This is gonna be a long one too!!! So my husband came to Tirr from Shreveport Rehab in Shreveport LA. And we were so nervous ,this is a BIG place , it gets BIG reviews from Drs, the therapist's and nurse's. But when we got there everyone was SOOOO extremely nice , and learned that Steven has broken C4 and he is a workers compensation case / patient. He got a room that he was in by himself which was amazing bc they didn't have any rooms that DIDN'T have two people in them. And it stayed that way the whole 70 something days he was there. The techs...🤨 Let me start with those. There were some who were absolutely wonderful and you could tell they loved their job, and the patient they were caring for. But then , you have the ones who come in your room ,and say "what you want"?, when he pushes the soft button( my husband has no finger movement,so he has a soft button that is VERY touchy) I've seen in another review that happened to them as well. IT HAPPENED EVERYDAY .. or when he pushes the button they don't answer. I understand they probably get aggravated. When my husband wants something to drink he has to ask someone for that drink ,so imagine how my husband feels to not be able to drink something , use the bathroom , walk ,eat ,wash his face ,etc on his own and have to ask someone to help him everyday. Makes him feel like EVEN MORE of a burden when that person comes in acting like they don't want to help him. Also to have someone come in his room and tell him all he does is b**tch and complain , and walk out ...ya know be considerate of someone's feelings. Me and my husband have our times the security staff knows there 🤦 but ya know our life has been turned upside down!!! Thank you for Stephanie ,the head nurse on floor 5. She helped us with security that day ..she totally understood what we went and go through and handled everything and Steven's nurse that day as well. Maria ...you're an angel 😇 ❤️⭕❌😘.. Maddie ,.....Than( Said like ...Tawn) Jordan and Julia.OUR angels. The way you pushed Steven and made him as strong as he is today is WHY HE NEVER GIVES UP why he's never taken breaks. (Said like ..Tawn). THAN THE DESTROYER HE CALLS HER ..Maddie. I can't say enough about you. You truly became Stevens best friend while he was there. And the amazing part of our stay is how much these therapists taught me and Steven About his body ,his injury, how to maintain the upkeep of his body ... The THERAPIST'S are what makes Tirr Memorial Herman Hospital number #2 in the United States. We also love The service Dog Annie at Tirr ,Steven believes she's a miracle dog and not paid enough ,he received therapy with Annie one day and his began to have his thumb and first finger work. ....the progress Steven made there was remarkable, he expressed to me how happy he was to go to therapy NEVER wanted to be late , and enjoyed the hard work and how tough they were on him. And TIRR has the most remarkable, high tech gadgets here. The best of EVERY THING! I can't forget to mention Tony and Phillip the two most caring Nurses on floor five in our ENTIRE journey with Steven's injury. These two were so prompt in everything they did, hence the reason Steven is and always will be from now on , on schedule. These two explained how important it was for Steven to stay on a schedule to live healthy. They were very knowledgeable on his injury and made sure he didn't have ANY issues. Tirr stayed on top of skin assessments , Steven stayed FREE of bedsores and breakdowns while being at Tirr. That says a lot , bc with a person in Steven's condition, they happen ALOT if not cared for properly. I just have to give a shout out to our boy chuck in the cafeteria as well. We love ya man !!! You are the man of the grill!!!! And if there is anyone we left out just know we live guys. Ohhh not to mention allll the friends Steven has made. Guys ...Sergio drove all the way to Tyler to see Steven !! That's awesome !!! I highly recommend ANYONE coming here for their services ! We hope to be seeing these guys again , he wants to be on that wall!!!!!

This is our second time here, and both times have been wonderful. The therapist and doctors do a great job occasionally. Yes you will get a nurse or PCA that is hard to understand or culturally a tad different than we expect in the United States. The food is probably some of the best food you’ve had in any hospital setting. I understand why some may be aggravated that the rooms are not private. I guess all I can say to that, it is get better insurance or choose a less qualified hoity-toity inpatient physical therapy hospital, or get a sleeping mask with earplugs.

When my wife was referred to TIRR, I did my due diligence. I got some first hand advice from my uncle who's Father in Law was a patient here, as well as my surgeon at MD Anderson. I read the reviews and success stories; and we were blessed to be admitted to TIRR. The progress she made at TIRR was outstanding. I cannot express how wonderful every doctor and therapist is at TIRR. Every one of these men and women are the best of the best. I truly believe that God blessed these doctors and therapists with the special gift of healing!

Worst experience!!! One star is being kind. If only Google had negative stars. There are some bad apples that ruin the experience. Yes, this’s downtown, but they need to understand that this is the medical center and people all over the world come here

Some of the staff are plain horrible! Some of them are rude! As someone who’s in healthcare, I’m shocked by the behavior and culture of these staff! I have worked in hospitals/ healthcare for years and when I say I am shocked, that doesn’t even begin to describe my experience. Some of the nurse managers, nurses, front desk, OA, caseworkers and security personnel are just not palatable! They just leave a bad taste in your mouth! The culture for some of the staff is ’take that insurance money and run!’

I have been harassed by some of the staff while minding my business and trying to think of ways to care for my loved one

If the TIRR staff that love their jobs feel offended by this review - please do a better job of weeding out these bad apples

To anyone reading this, if you have no choice but to be here, keep your visit short and sweet. Just keep saying, “No offense, guys, but home is where my heart is.”

Believe me, you don’t want to stay here too long.

To those staff who harassed me when I was trying to catch a ride back home, I suggest you look up the word, “harassment” and keep 6 foot distance away from me, per COVID guidelines and don’t invade my space when you were not invited

Hospital is staffed by a...

My niece has been in tirr for almost 2 weeks. The therapy staff is good but their the only one's who are good. This rehab center is not patient Friendly. If a patient calls for a nurse, it will be at least 30 minutes before they even come into your room. Unexcepted for a supposed to be "the best rehab in the medical center". They nurses appears lazy and uninteresting about getting someone in the patient room in a timely manner. The nurse staff sucks. Like they got so many patients, who's fault is that if my niece needs to use the restroom or possibly has an emergency. I'm not one to post but I don't care. People need to know TIRR is not what they use to be. Thats why their not even rated a 4 star let alone a 5 star. Like I said the therapist does their job while the nurses lie and hide. You may get good therapy but not good patient service. I hope someone sees this then maybe they will get it right. Room 303 is where my niece is and I hope management sees this because I am gonna keep blasting y'all until you get those nurse of yours under control and make them do their job. They don't even come in the room to check on her knowing she had a stroke and can't talk. Shame,...
