We own an Imagine Camper by Grand Design. We have worked with the manager John Hildebrand as well as Taylor, someone in service, apparently. Needless to say, the ball has dropped somewhere with service at this place. We took our camper up early spring and this is what has transpired or not! This is a brief rundown of how our service appointment went. We bought our camper from the people who purchased the camper new from you. They purchased an extended warranty, which we transferred into our name.
The issues we brought it up for were the water pump randomly kicking in about once an hour overnight and some issues with the awning. We were told there were some loose fittings that were causing small drips under the sink that were tightened, and the awning was adjusted. Also, there was a factory recall on cabinet door and drawer handles due to being too sharp.
When we picked up the camper and brought it home, the drawer used to access the water pump was not closed and bounced all over while traveling, which ruined the drawer glides. Also, the panel in the front storage under the bed on the driver side was removed for some reason and not put back together.
New drawer glides were shipped for the drawer by service, and even though they came 2 inches shorter than the ones that were on the drawer, originally, I was able to make them work. I put the panel back together in the storage compartment.
The water pump still kicks in once and awhile, which has us concerned about a leak happening that we can not see. How do we address this? We now worry about water issues underneath but they dont return calls. They did try and say they leave messages on my husbands phone which is not truthful. He has a work phone and recieves numerous messages daily and handles them immediately.
In regards to the cabinet drawer and door handles, we were told they would be shipped in to you, and I would have to bring the camper back to have them changed. We live an hour and 15 from your store. I asked if the handles could be shipped to me directly, and I was told I would have to pay shipping for that. They ended up covering the shipping and sending them to our house. I have no problem changing them myself, however, I went to change them and when I opened the package there are only 10 handles in the package and our camper has 32 door and drawer handles. I do want to change them because we have actually scratched and cut ourselves several times on these handles, so I do need 22 more handles. Also, I'm not sure if it matters as the screws are on the inside, but the new handles sent have different fastener spacing than the ones in the camper. That means there will be new holes needed if I used these. We were told the new ones would fit in the same holes.
Overall, our service experience was not a good one. I want to get these issues resolved so we can all move on. However, no one returns calls including the management. This has been a very difficult experience and it should have been so simple! Just giving us a solution seems simple to us. Taylor seemed to laugh at everything I told him which seemed so completely rude. Perhaps because I was a woman, not certain but I found it...
Read moreMy mom had rented a class A RV for a week trip to South Dakota and Yellowstone. On our 2nd day into the trip while driving through Wyoming and Montana, we only had generator power and the back up and blind spot cameras stopped working. We stopped in Sheridan, Wy to check fuses and anything else that could be wrong. We eventually called Van Boxtels after hours number for some suggestions as to what it could be. After speaking with the mechanic from Van Boxtel multiple times that night, he said he would get back to us the next day and to see what he could find around where we were traveling the next day for any repairs. So the next day as we were traveling through Montana, he called back and believed it to be the solenoid and offered us either money off each gallon of gas used to run the generator or to stop in Billings for repairs. We are on vacation and are not going to wait around all day at a repair shop so we agreed to the money off each gallon. 2 days later we began to have issues with the stabilizers when the slideout was out so we were uneven and leaning terribly each night. By our 2nd to last night we had mysterious water leaking in the back bedroom, with no idea as to where it was coming from. Upon returning the RV my mother got a phone call from a not so nice employee named Scott who told her she owed $131.00 more for miles. She told him that she was the renter who had the electrical problems in Montana to which he replied “Yeah you hit something.” We were traveling on I90 when everything stopped working, also had 7 people in the RV who would have noticed something hit and not to mention the driver who has a CDL license would have noticed. Scott offered zero assistance and when my mom asked about the stabilizers not working, he replied “Thats why we dont have people use them.” Ok so we are supposed to be un level and have water leaking too? Perhaps the caution and warning stickers near the slideout button should be removed from your RVs then. Scott also told my mom “Well theres a place in Yellowstone that can do repairs.” Well maybe a phone call to us to let us know that? Sorry but this is YOUR RV and responsibility. Eventually Scott got frustrated with my moms questions and said someone would call her back. A female employee called back and immediately said “You hit something.” So eventually after my mom had to plead her case they agreed to take $200 off the rental. This was a minor inconvenience in our vacation, however we will never use or recommend Van Boxtel RV to anyone. They had the chance to make this right but all they did was berate my mom and accuse us of hitting something. Very disappointed in the customer service given by Scott. No one cares that “In 40 years Ive never had that...
Read more^DO NOT GO HERE!!! THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!! ** DO NOT bring your RV here for service. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS THEY DON’T FIX and have OUTRAGEOUS prices for simple tasks. We were charged $65 for them to “LOOK” at mounting two TVs that they determined they COULDN’T mount and $135 to tighten a few bolts on our front driver’s side door of our Class A Motorcoach. We were traveling through Green Bay visiting family and figured we could get a few things repaired while in town. We did our initial walk through with Robert, we asked them to do an oil change, fix some weather stripping/seals and tighten some locks if possible on our front windows, to mount two TVs we already had with mounts we already had, and to tighten the driver’s side door if it wouldn’t be to expensive (we told him we would do it otherwise because it is simple and only requires tightening a few bolts, but might as well fix it while it’s in IF it’s easy for them). We returned to a $550 bill.. no weatherstripping.. no TVs mounted..we let them know we were upset and asked to talk to a manager. Dan, the service manager, came out and got right in my husband’s face and told him our total was $550 and we need to pay immediately. My husband asked to go over the charges and said that we weren’t going to pay $65 for 5 minutes of looking for a stud to mount a tv on. Dan told us it was an hour and a half of work and again repeated the total “$550” and stood stern in my husband’s face. My husband took a few steps back and did drop a curse word because we were so extremely appalled at the way we were being treated and even felt threatened by the way Dan approached us and stood SO close. Dan then told us he was going to “Call 911” if my husband didn’t check his language because of other customers in the store. Wow! That escalated quickly.. we paid our total and left.
And what do you know as we drive down the road the next day the driver’s door we paid $165 to tighten STILL RATTLES because they didn’t replace any of the weatherstripping we asked for.
“Mobster” Dan and the people at Van Boxtel don’t care at all about customer service and will RIP YOU OFF in a heartbeat. The type of treatment we received is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable as paying customers. We have every right to ask about charges but they were immediately defensive and rude because they knew they were TAKING ADVANTAGE OF US!!
If you work hard for the things you have, and don’t feel like giving your hard earned money away to SCAMMERS.. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
We were trying to support a local business but will drive the extra hour to Camping World in the future where they atleast have corporate ...
