This was clearly not my cup of tea. I was brought to this place in 2002 with the false notion, " id be witnessing the best christian band that had ever rocked." This made me laugh, so i gave it a chance. The band started to play(cant think of whom they were). After song 3, they must have run out of hits. Cuz they decided to play their "big number" a second time. Well, i thought, that was weird. The next songs came, and wouldnt you know it, they had encored their big hit a third time. I remember thinking, i betcha the beatles didnt repeat she loves me yeah, yeah, yeah: 3 times within their performance. Well, a miracle happened that day&somehow the small number crowd demanded they play their big hit again. And the band gave them what they wanted. It was very weird indeed. Makes me laugh just thinking back. The cup of joy people on the other hand, were pretty fricken awesome. They need to tone down the lights though, as the strobe effect&direct eyeball shine was hard to endure. I recomend this place...
Read moreHaving spent the past 5 decades performing in every imaginable venue, from church basements to comedy clubs to the biggest arenas in the USA and around the world, I rank Cup O Joy as THE BEST LIVE SETTING for entertainment. There are 3 reasons: 1) It is run professionally, courteously and beautifully; 2) the staff, from the top to every single person working there whether behind the snack counter or the sound/tech room, extends the customer-friendly attitude of management; and 3) every room - and there are a few - is perfectly suited to the event at hand. The main theater has incredible seating - there are NO bad seats - and the smaller rooms offer performers an amazingly user-friendly experience for their audience. There are ballrooms, rehearsal rooms, conference rooms and plenty of accompanying facilities - bathrooms, parking, lobby areas - that make CUP O JOY a true joy to work or attend. It is a jewel, not only for Green Bay, Wisconsin but for the USA. Thank...
Read moreVisited Cup O Joy for a night of Christmas music and song. It was my first time at the venue. Our seats faced toward the other seats across the hall on the other wall. The stage was to our left. The flood lights used for the show were occasionally spun in all directions and often shone directly into my eyes. During these parts, I'd either close my eyes, turn to my friend on my right for conversation, or hold my hand up to block the painful light.
The music was nice. They did carols new and old. However, I didn't hear any harmony in their songs.
Cup O Joy hosts a variety of events throughout the year. I would try them again and look to get forward...
