Learned Owl Book Shop — Local services in Hudson

Cute bookstore! Friendly employees and a good atmosphere. The building/layout is definitely not disability-friendly; not a critcism on the owners or anything, there's not really anything to be done about that, just a note for other customers. Overall, this is one of my favorite bookstores!

As a single woman with one three year old child I was watched like I was a thief, and my child was treated like a tyrant. My daughter was enjoying herself, the quaint little children’s section, and the toys. I was not enjoying being watched like a circus animal by an older woman who clearly must be fearful of a tattooed patron. I first hoped she was just a bitter hag who hated all of humanity but she verified her distaste in me and my daughter specifically when a blonde suburbanite woman with four screaming children came in and she greeted them with literally open arms and a grinning face. The Learned Owl is a true local gem. My family has been coming here for years to get books for school, as gifts, and for ourselves. Even if they don’t have what you’re looking for on the shelf, just ask and they’ll order it! Never buy from Amazon or other large retailers. Not only is the service great but the vibe is on point for a small downtown bookshop. Think real-life Flourish and Blotts. They also offer gift wrapping.
