I have been going to Aldi all of my life . I went alone yesterday real quick & went to check out . Not one cashier was anywhere to be found , only one lane was open but not one employee anywhere . The cashier Amira popped out from the back and proceeded to tell the long line full of people to start putting your things down the line and she’d be right there . She was very rude , she didn’t greet you or anything . She dropped my whole glass candle at my feet and shattered it everywhere because she was going so fast throwing my items in the cart . She missed the cart and it dropped at my feet . She didn’t say one word to me nor apologize for her mistake when it happened . The next thing she says was “ your total is blah blah blah you can take your receipt “ VERY BAD LOOK FOR ALDI ! So unacceptable , me and the other customers were in complete shock . I had to go get a new candle myself and a bag of pretzels she popped open during the process . I said thank you and went about my way . I don’t know if she was having a bad day but she definitely looked mad & like she didn’t want to be there . Thankful I didn’t get cut because that whole scenario could’ve went...

So I don't want to think that all this was due to the fact that I am Latina and not white, because I am an American citizen like anyone else! and no matter the ethnicity of the person, we all have the right to be treated as people, which is what we are! Zero sense of urgency from workers who literally try to justify their lack of responsiveness to performing store tasks over servicing customers waiting in line. I have personally witnessed lines of 20-30+ people in lines extending into food aisles with one register open. Those associates never call anyone to assist unless a manager is called. There must be a complete re-education on what customer service actually means. Lower prices do not mean we have to subject ourselves to this mindset that has been adopted by their low energy staff. I will go out of my way from now on to the nearby stores (Lowes, Harris Teeter, Publix) and especially Lidl; an overall more enjoyable experience (without having to fork over quarters...
