Mezcali Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Huntersville

The absolute worst experience. I’ve been a regular for quite awhile now and the server we had on Friday night was extremely rude. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant. We were abruptly greeted and expected to order. We typically like to start with a beverage from the bar and queso. We also like to ask for the hot sauce to go along with our appetizers. We were made to feel like we could not enjoy our appetizer, had to eventually ask another server we are very familiar with for the hot sauce. We ended up ordering instead of enjoying because I felt so uncomfortable. My order is always the same here, 2 tacos and 1 cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Simple combination. He proceeded to look at me like I had 10 heads and opened the menu and searched through pages. I had to repeat it 3 times and when it arrived it was wrong. I couldn’t even be bothered to go to battle with this guy. I just wanted to eat and get out of there. We were never offered any water to accompany our beverages from the bar, had to ask twice. We were finished with our food before the water had arrived. Upon clearing our plates he dropped the cup of salsa all over the table and us. He was irritated and more concerned about himself and his appearance. Eventually another server came by and offered to clean up and removed the salsa cup from the floor he never bothered to pick up. Hazard. As he returned to our table, he stood and made a scene, making sure to wipe himself and apron several times as he stared at us, like it was our fault. It was the most unpleasant experience. I will say this Mexican restaurant offers a Big Bang For Your Buck(BBFYB). The dine in portion sizes are good. Karimar was our server and she was a true delight, attentive, very helpful, and most of all very patient for our indecisive group. The vibes are laid with ample dine in seating and a bar. The menu is pretty extensive with a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes and a few with a Mezcali spin. Upon arrival complimentary chips, mild, and hot salsa were provided. We of course added a large queso bowl to complement. Chips were freshly made warm, light, airy, and crunchy. I noticed I've gotten spoiled with the dedicated chip replenisher most Mexican restaurants have because we had to ask for more chips each time. For spirited drinks we ordered a jumbo original frozen margarita and the beautiful sangria margarita. They were good and reasonably priced. Entrees ordered were the Ultimate Burrito, Mezcali's Best, and a Chicken dish smothered with cheese, bacon, and onions. The food was good but the dish with bacon needs tweaking. I ran into many fatty bites of bacon because it was not cooked long enough. I would recommend using already cooked bacon, bacon bits, or no bacon at all to help this issue. Undercooked bacon can be a problem. The one last issue I noted while dining was the manager attending and checking in with surrounding customers seated near us but not once coming to our table to ask how our experience was. Came in to a hostile atmosphere, I had placed a to go order and arrived 25 minutes later only To be told that the kitchen didn’t receive my ticket . Although the first person that stood next to me asked “did she place an order” and didn’t acknowledge me. Since I’m bilingual I could hear him blatantly xursing in Spanish and saying offensive words. While I waited the additional time the server who took my order was very kind and apologized which I understood so I walked over to food lion to grab my kid some fruits while our order was ready . When I returned I was about to pay for our food but was told by the young lady that they didnt accept Apple pay (mobile wallet ) right before I walked over to my car I said griping that last time I paid and then the large man said “last time we did but now we dont in the most sarcastic rude way you could .
