I will start with the positive - this Kroger is large, so even when it's crowded it's not overwhelming and I've never waited for a checkout. They have a nice selection of home goods that you wouldn't expect at a grocery store - I'm always finding cute kitchen items here. The staff is generally nice and helpful. Their seafood has been great and very fresh tasting!
Unfortunately, I'm almost at my breaking point with the out of stock items at this store. In my last shopping trip I left without one item and had to compromise on the brand or quantity of several others.
This store never has any basil! In fact, many of the fresh herbs are often out of stock. I've been shopping here for 3 months now and have never been able to buy fresh basil. One time I settled for the tubed basil paste but the last few times they didn't even have that. I'm always leaving the store with at least one item unfulfilled.
I know people who drive for miles to shop at this store and unfortunately you can tell that that's the case. Don't expect any good sale items to still be there when you arrive and don't anticipate being able to buy hamburger buns before a holiday weekend. In rare instances like before a storm I wouldn't see this as the store's fault, but their stock is consistently inadequate for the number of people who shop here.
Another issue has been the deli counter. They haphazardly call on people in line instead of xallica numbers and the order screen is faulty. It doesn't print your number so you have to memorize it. They'll never call over the intercom or send a text like the screen says. You'll go back to the counter and have to wait in line anyway because nobody actually picked up your order.
Constructive criticism: I wish the produce section had scales that printed out price tags as it makes the self checkout process easier. I wish the shopping carts had cup holders because I like to keep my phone there with my shopping list. I wish they carried Locatelli cheese!
Overall, I enjoy shopping at this Kroger but have some consistent annoyances. A few changes and better awareness of items that need to be restocked more often would make this...
Read moreThis local Kroger grocery store is located at 7090 Highway 72 W Huntsville, AL 35806. The great thing that sets Kroger apart from other grocery stores is it doesn't have clothes, outdoor furnishings, etc. It has groceries.
There is a Starbucks located inside the store, as well as pharmacy, flower shop and in addition to all of the well stocked grocery departments. SO you can get your favorite mocha, latte or espresso to enjoy while you shop. There is a fully stocked produce department with fresh fruit and vegetables. During the Summer months they carry a Tuscan melon that is the sweetest and juiciest I've ever tasted.
There is a fresh meat department that carries beef, pork, chicken and seafood. We've purchased the jumbo shrimp several time when it has been one sale for $9.99 a pound. It was fresh and delicious each time we've bought it. Occasionally Kroger has the whole Beef Tenderloin on sale for $142.36 for 14.2 pounds which averages to just over $10 a pound. We had the meat department slice the whole tenderloin into 3/4" thick steaks. It made 15 thick steaks and about a pound and of tender stew meat. We've also watched for sales online and they've had Choice Boneless Ribeye for $6.96 per pound.
Kroger also has a great deli meat department that has cold deli pork, beef, chicken, turkey and many other seasoned deli meats. We've bought the Boar's Head London Broil Roast Beef $12.37 per pound. We had the deli department slice it nice and thin and it makes fantastic roast beef sandwiches for French dip.
Kroger also has a large variety of potato chips ,snacks, canned fruit and vegetables. They carry a wide variety of household cleaning and laundry supplies. There is a large variety of dairy milks, cheeses and yogurts. They carry pretty much everything you can want in food and sundries.
There is staffed checkouts as well as self-checkouts. Make sure your register for an Kroger saver account that you can use and track on your smart phone. On average we save anywhere between $15-30 per visit and can track the sales using...
Read moreWorst grocery pick-up experience of my life! They called me and told me it was going to be two hours late. I called and asked to speak to a manager, and after holding and getting transferred to the wrong department, I talked to someone who clearly wasn't a manager. I wasn't happy, but ok. I get there, after having to completely rearrange my schedule, and call in. They say we will be with you in a minute and I wait patiently. Someone walks to my window and asks my name. It still takes 20 minutes for my order to come out. The server hands me a paper, and doesn't explain what it is. I have to get out of my car to ask her what it is, because she acted as if she can't hear me. Then she finally tells me that over half my order has been substituted or was unavailable. She didn't even have the decency to ask if I accepted those substitutions, she just started loading my car. Apparently because I am a black woman I am considered a threat, so now everyone who comes to my car comes out with a partner. Trust me, as an educated black woman, no ignorant employee or mid-level manager is worth my freedom. I ask to speak to a manager, they take 20 more minutes to come out, and are ridiculously unapologetic. I do get a refund that was reversed to my card, but I still don't have groceries, and I have to wait 3-5 business days to get my money. I never would imagine saying that Walmart has better service, but I have never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for my order to be ready and I certainly have gotten much...
