Mike is the best! He designed a custom wedding band that perfectly matches the style of my engagement ring (made by another jeweler) and it's exactly what I wanted. We also purchased my husband's wedding band, my wedding earrings, and a bracelet and earrings for my mom over the course of a few visits. We absolutely adore Mike and he is great to bounce ideas off of. He genuinely wants you to get a piece that fits your style rather than trying to upsell you.

On our first visit, he gave some excellent recommendations for my husband after we had tried on many bands at other shops that didn't look quite right (Mike very accurately recommended a band slightly thinner than the other stores had been trying to sell us on). The design of my wedding band was so collaborative and he gave some excellent jeweler perspectives to make sure my vision was met and the design was well constructed. He is also incredibly quick! It was a couple of days for him to design it and then about 10 days for him to make it!

He got to know my style pretty well over a few visits of me trying to work out my wedding earring style that when I asked to see another set of earrings he said "hmm....I don't know about those....you sure?" And I said "Oh! No! For my mom!" and of course he happily showed them to me. He was so correct in them not being my style and I appreciate that he was hesitant to even try to sell me the earrings!

My wife of nearly 20 years hit her ring with a floating diamond on something and the weld cracked letting the stone drop to be gone forever. It was a diamond that garnered many compliments over the years. I had bought the ring in her hometown in Germany so we did not want to get another setting.

After several days of searching and reading reviews of the various jewelers in town, I decided on M&M Custom Fine Jewelers. After some background discussion, a bit of banter, and some idea exchange, and sizing the diamond, they were able to show us several examples and ultimately find a perfect fit both for the ring and my budget. The clarity and cut were beautiful, better than the original and exceeded my expectations. I also had to get my ring resized thanks to twenty years of indulging in German food.

The price was excellent, the staff were super friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. They were able to get both rings repaired and back to me (looking better than new!) within several hours.

So my now wife and I had never done any real jewelry shopping before, and we heard about this place from a family friend. For her engagement ring, they helped us by removing the stone from an heirloom ring from my family and put it into a beautiful platinum setting that my wife still loves.

For her wedding ring, we honestly had a little more difficulty, but the precious people here met us every step of the way with extraordinary service and kindness that they didn't have to exhibit. My wife was wanting a custom designed jacket ring that would fit around the engagement stone. My advice to anyone planning on doing a custom job is just to know what you want. Have a plan and a clear drawing of it all with clearly written specifics, and Mr. Michael will not let you down. We didn't have as much of a formed plan with ours, so there was some miscommunication created as a result. We also live in Birmingham, AL, so distance made things more challenging.
