Mary's — Local services in Huntsville

I’ve been shopping with Mary for years. Her bead selection is the best I’ve ever seen. When I tell ppl about Mary’s I describe it as “wall to wall, floor to ceiling, beads” & lots of other stuff, too! She also has a lot of great chains to choose from, pendants, rings, and many jewelry making essentials. Jewelry designers come from all over to shop at Mary’s! Mary offers up a great selection of other items in addition to beads. You’ll find a good selection of rough and polished mineral specimens, diverse knick knacks, antiques, lead crystal, bone china, silver pieces and trays, etc. Collectibles like shot glasses and little spoons from all over, old & newish linens, and a lot of just really cool other stuff. But, by far, the best part of going to Mary’s shop is Mary herself! Mary is a genuinely awesome lady. She’s a “straight shooter” so to speak, is native to Huntsville, and absolutely loves what she does. It’s not unusual for everyone in the shop, including Mary of course, to all be engaged in conversation as if they’ve known each other forever. I would encourage anyone who’s interested in rocks & minerals, crystals, old stuff, cool stuff, and unusual stuff to stop by Mary’s shop and look around. Be sure to go speak to Mary, you can’t miss her, she’s the little bitty spit-fire sitting in the middle room talking to everyone as she tally’s up ppl’s items. You won’t regret...

This store is incredible. We were visiting from the Seattle area for a family affair. I called the store ahead of time to see what kinds of beads and stuff they have and Mary's husband on the phone was very friendly and informative. The store is accepting visitors at this time by appointment only because they can only let a certain amount of folks in the store at a time because of the virus. I made an appointment today and my gosh the place is heaven on earth! I've been making jewelry small-time for a few months and I was amazed. I just love bead stores because when you buy beads online, you rarely get to choose which particular strand works for your pieces. If you're looking for a wide selection, Mary's has it! They have crystals, gemstones, glass, wood beads, findings, etc. And Mary goes all over the country and all over the world to bring these to her customers. We chatted while I shopped and Mary is a sweetheart, it was a pleasure to speak with her! Prices are great, I got some great deals. Mary's is a Huntsville treasure. Treasure chest that is! Walk through the doors and it feels like walking in to a pirate's treasure chest you found on a forgotten beach. There are hats, unique clothing, knick knacks, paddy whacks, strings of polished and unpolished stones of varying types, beads (both shiny and extra shiny), tiaras, brooches, sets of china, artwork, rings, bracelets, and one of the best collections of creepy dolls you'll find locally. Most everything is not priced but the prices are reasonable, you just have to ask Mary.

Mary herself is a treasure to talk to. Good ole southern gal that's worked her booty off over the course of decades to bring this store to you. Stay long enough and you're sure to hear a couple of good stories. Somehow Mary knows where everything is. That in itself is an impressive feat as this place is packed wall to wall, floor to ceiling.

Don't be too disappointed if you show up on a Friday and they're closed. She and her husband are probably hitting up estate sales to bring in more inventory. They'll be back in business on Monday just like the sign says.
