Now that I’ve had a few weeks with my new 2 channel setup, I truly don’t have words to depict how full I am. My system consists of Krell Illusion II preamp, McIntosh MC 611 monoblocks, Marantz network player, Revel Ultima Salon 2’s and Isotec Titan protection. This review is primarily for the McIntosh amps and the Salon 2’s that I got with the help and support of Ty! I had a listening party this past weekend after a 10 day break in period; approximately 40 hrs playing time. Initially, I mused about a supplement sub; after more hours and adjustments to low end on the Salon 2’s, it became evident that indeed, no sub needed. We sat in awe listening to track after track; late into the night we immersed ourselves in sonic glory. The Salon 2 are very old in electronic parlance, but their record is well documented and voluminous. I’ve waited many years and dreamed of this system all my life. Ty, thank you for your advice and patience in working with me to bring my ambitions to fruition. The Salons literally grab hold of the 611’s and wrestles them. The dynamic is flawless. After 8 hours of moderate-heavy driving, the 611’s were barely warm to touch, and the Salons handled with aplomb everything that we threw at them. The guys at AVA came to my home to do a full update and upgrade my Control4 System, upgrade audio, add TV’s and install a whole-house Wi-Fi service matrix with AT&T fiber, while also cutting the cord (cable) and installing wired Roku devices on 7 TV sets. The work went smoothly. Installation was carefully made and the guys cleaned up meticulously. They even helped with the installation of apps and walked me through the Roku features and updated Control4 screens. Everything was tested and worked perfectly and a special effort was made to clean up my multitude of wires and the entire rack of equipment was brought to essential wiring only.
