Worst customer service and unmanageable store ever….
It has an orange 30% Off label on item, but this doesn't mean really offer 30% off. In fact, customer has to ask for Help in self-checkout in order to get it, or it will over-charge by scanner error and most customer won’t even know we are being over-charged.
Customer won’t be able to catch the discount when scan this 30% off item in the self-checkout because most discount will only show up after you pressed the “Finished or Done” button then it’ll calculate for any discount, but user has to manually using the tough screen to scroll up in number of pages/screens to confirm if that item is really getting discount or not from the check-out screen!
When I saw the receipt that discount item didn’t have any off, I asked the only cashier available there, she is African American young short lady. After she found out my over-charged case, she refused to call the supervise for the refund because she didn’t like my tone! She said “unless you change your tone or I won’t be able to help you or get a manager for you…?!”
So, I’ve walked in the store to get a manager from another staff, then a supervisor showed up and explained for those 30% off discount label must have a staff override in order to receive such discount and there has a HELP button in self-checkout screen…..!
There are many issues with this kind of business practices:
1 – Customer has no way to know such rule and most customers have using self-checkout nowadays, which meant most customers will not catch the over-charged error due to manager's negligence to allow such scanner error to go through like “catch me if you can or no-refund for over-charged...”
2- No staff wear name tag anymore, they used to be worn the name tag, but current policy gets changed somehow?!
3 – Rude employee refuse to call a manager when customer request for over-charged refund.
4- the purpose of self-checkout counter is to speed up the business operation and reduce manpower costs in order to increase the productivity, but this 30% discount label required staff manually over-ride per item, so it totally defeats its own purpose.
5- other big name store has 50% yellow label with bar-code taped over on top of the regular price label, so this way the customer using a self-checkout scanner will only detect the discount bar-code without cause any confusion nor over-charge at all. Wonder why this store managers don’t even know such smart business strategy at all.
In summary, the Lidl corporate-level should really carefully inspect what is wrong why this store has so many issues by the...

Upd:
Store cashier (old man) is basically pretty racist guy. Today around 7PM we were at the store and my kid cried little bit. After few minutes he called my father and said we are closing for no reason. Please leave the store. We thought there is some issue or something, because usually store close at 9PM. The weird part is while we are leaving, people were walking to inside the store and he didn’t tell anyone we are close. Then we passed from there after fueling at the gas station and I saw Lidl is still open. There is no issue with the store. I am reviewing at 8:11PM right now and store was open just 7 minutes ago. Thats not good at the neighborhood market and i will try to reach out to manager to see of i can get video records and continue from there for some steps for legal help.
Looks like we should see another store around here and post on social...
Read moreAfter spending time shopping for my family's (plus one due to my son being born a few days ago) weekly grocery list, I make the line and attempt to pay my groceries when the lady at the register tells me that the credit card payment system is down. We tried several times and pretty soon it becomes apparent that other customers are experiencing the same issue. Moments later after the associates talk about the issue, it is confirmed that no credit cards will be taken and only cash payment will be accepted.
I spent a good amount of time doing all my shopping prior to finding myself in a position where I am unable to pay due to not having cash payment. Not to mention, I travelled 20 minutes out of my way to come to Lidl. Meanwhile, my newborn and my wife are at home waiting for groceries so that we can cook a nice meal and have food for the week.
I was told that they are only taking cash. I removed all the groceries from the bags I packed and walked out in disbelief . If anyone knows how busy it can be when you have your first newborn, you may understand how valuable time can be and how much effort it takes... I then call customer care and they say that they can't do anything but send a gift card through the mail...to which I replied no thank you. My issue was not resolved. I still have no groceries to show when I get home after running errands and will have to spend more time somewhere else to achieve buying groceries. It shouldn't be this difficult.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I will not be shopping again at LIDL anytime soon. There are at least two other supermarkets within 5 mins of my home. I chose to visit LIDL today and I apparently...
