I was in the store recently purchasing a Cricut item that was on sale. Which if you are familiar with Cricut products they are rarely on sale and usually excluded from any sort of coupons. The signage was posted clearly with the sale price. The item did not ring up on sale at the register. I questioned it, the associate basically said I was lying after walking back to the aisle where the sign was clearly posted. Asked another associate who then said “I don’t think those are on sale.” But the signage with the correct dates was posted plain as day! She pointed out the prices listed on the hooks...clearly that’s the regular price but not the SALE price...duh. I have no explanation for why it didn’t ring up that way at the register...but that’s not my issue to fix. I’m not one of “those people” who would’ve held them to an outdated sign if that was no longer the sale. Had that been the problem ok disappointing but we are human. This was not the case. I honestly was dumbfounded and should’ve asked for a manager, I was in a hurry and didn’t expect to have such an experience at check out. In the past I have found the majority of employees to be short with customers and rude at times at this location. I’ve never said anything. This however was unacceptable. It was like being in the twilight zone. Interestingly enough other craft stores and Amazon had the exact same item listed in this weeks add for the same sale price (or slightly cheaper). Clearly Cricut was having a national sale. So I stood at the register and ordered it on Amazon without any hassle or poor customer service. I’d rather wait on 2 day Prime to deliver it than argue with an employee who doesn’t want to do their job and be difficult. It’s really no wonder why brick and mortar stores are...
Read moreVery nice store. Carts were being sanitized as I was walking in. The nice lady at the cash register nearest the entrance was very helpful when I asked where the yarn section was. The store was very clean and even though there's displays in the middle of the main isle they were not in the way of cart traffic and we're very well marked with sale prices. The yarn section was very nicely displayed and I was able to easily see what everything was. I didn't end up making a yarn purchase however only because I didn't see any that matched my specific criteria (I'm very much what some might call a yarn snob🤣). I have used their I Love This Yarn brand in the past and do find the quality to be very good for the price. I will say the section where they keep the hooks and other crochet supplies was lacking in variety and I didn't find the brand of hook I was looking for (Susan Bates). It may simply be that they just don't carry this brand at all, I really don't know, so I'm not taking away stars for that. The hooks they did have seemed to be a fair price, basically the reason I didn't just buy any brand of hook is I specifically wanted an inline hook and none of the hooks on their pegs were inline. I also was looking to buy a yarn winder but the only 1 they had wasn't what I was wanting. When I say only 1 I literally mean there was only 1 on the shelf so there's absolutely no variety or at least this day there was no variety. I highly recommend this store for any crafter. They also have a candle section where I found a great 50% off sale on...
Read moreOver the past 2 years, I've started to shop Michael's exclusively. Their online discounts are always better than any other brick and mortar craft store and I've come to rely on their Bead Landing line for items I use regularly in my small jewelry design business.
I wish this location received a larger quantity of stock of basic jewelry making supplies, because they're often out or don't have the quantity needed. When this happens, I end up driving to other locations to pick up the items I need, which eats into my production time.
They also offer shipping. The $49+ threshold you need to hit to avoid shipping costs is a bit steep if your only need one item, but those times when I don't need a product ASAP or I am buying a more expensive item it's great.
Online shopping is great because I can place an order anytime and pick it up later that or the next day at a good price (typically 20-30% off with the current code). I really wish there was a similar program for in store purchases.
Their seasonal decor is always top notch and on trend. It's hard to walk by that section sometimes without picking up at least one item that's caught my eye.
Most of the staff are helpful and friendly. There are just a couple of them who aren't as friendly and helpful as the rest.
Overall, I rely on Michael's and consider them an important...
