I went there to purchase a new sofa, rug and ottoman for our den. I paid a fee for designer service ($250-to be applied to purchase over $750). They did have a good selection of furniture, but I would not shop there again. To begin with I thought the designer service, at least for me, was subpar. This person was very young, and while pleasant, not that responsive, knowledgable, and generally didn't meet my expectations. Additionally, the policy of paying for items in full prior to delivery is not something I am comfortable with at all. The owner did agree to a 75% deposit but most furniture stores only require 50% or less. Plus the wait time is up to 3 months and some of the fabric was backordered. Unfortunately, within a month after I paid the deposit, we purchased a new home, rather unexpectedly. I immediately called RG decor and asked if I might cancel the order, not to get a refund, but use the deposit paid to be applied to other furniture that might be more appropriate for the new home. Of course they said no, the order was in process of being manufactured. Eventually, I did have the furniture delivered to the new home and the sofa arrived with a dirty mark on the cushion. I called them and was transferred to someone who did come out to clean it but could not totally remove the dirt. They wanted me to bring it to Sanibright for cleaning, which I opted not to do. My husband eventually was able to clean the cushion. To address the quality of the furniture, it was disappointing. The rug purchased sheds horribly bad throughout the house, (it tracks on one's shoes/slippers) and I am constantly vacuuming balls of wool off the hardwood. Also, the sofa I ordered had a a seam down the middle of the fabric in the very front. This was an expensive sofa and I was shocked that this was the case. After doing some research and talking to other furniture sellers, I discovered that this was because the fabric had not been "railroaded" in order to avoid the seam down the middle. This should have been a function of the designer and specified when the order was placed. Additionally, after the furniture was delivered, the design person never called to check on my satisfaction and when I called about the dirty mark on the cushion, she answered the phone and transferred me to someone else without a word about my happiness with the order. Very poor service, IMHO. Finally, this is not a place I would return to purchase quality furniture or get good service. People were generally nice, but I felt that the overall goal was to get your money and get you out the door without worrying about a return customer. I have worked with several furniture companies and designers over the years and RG Decor definitely does not distinguish itself as a business that wants to build long term customer base. There are much better alternatives in the...
Read moreWe moved into a new house two years ago and finally made the decision to upgrade our 15-year-old kitchen table. RG Decor came highly recommended, so we went there (among other places) and settled on a beautiful custom Canadel table and chairs. They gave us a fair price, so we purchased the set. When it came in, although stunning, and in the color we were expecting, I noticed it did not have the Antique/Distressed finish we asked for when we ordered it (thinking with kids, the distressed look would help hide our kids’ future marks!). They were great about it, responded in a timely manner and owned up to their mistake, paying for the replacement and shipping cost. Well, the new table came, and although technically the order had been accurately put through from RG Decor, for whatever reason, the finish was SO much darker with the Distressed finish and looked completely different than the original beautiful Pecan finish of the first table in our house! I contacted RG Decor the next day to see if it would be possible to swap out the current darker Distressed table with the original lighter one, as the entire look of the kitchen just didn’t look anymore how I had envisioned - there was almost no longer any contrast between our black chairs and the wooden table - it was THAT dark. Expecting to be told “not a chance,” Karen got right back to me to say that would be no problem, I would just have to pay for the swap, understandably. I’m SO relieved! Excellent...
Read moreBuyer beware. Thoroughly examine your purchase before leaving the store. We bought two barstools, which they brought to us from the warehouse. We get home, then realize that one of the stools is missing half of the hardware to keep the seat attached. I call and Karen recites their no return policy, says their items are sold “as is” and basically says that we have to live with it. I informed her that I was driving back to their store and trading this stool for one of the two they still had in stock. I show up at the store and show her where the pieces are missing. She gives me the replacement stool and repeats their store policy again, but that she IS replacing my stool. I said that if an item is missing pieces, then that needs to be communicated to the customer. She admits that they did not know the pieces were missing. Then, I said that she should have apologized over the phone and not basically told me that I had to live with it. I told her that this was the third item we had purchased from their store, but that we won’t be...
