I used to come here primarily for the high-end Microtech and Benchmade knives, $300-500 price range. The employees were always great and friendly and my dogs were always welcome with me. This was my go-to local shop.
We were visiting today as we had since moved out of town. I was with my wife, son and his girlfriend. And my 2 dogs, one which is blind, paralyzed and rides in a pet stroller.
I went to scan the knives inside and was interested in one Microtech knife. I noticed my wife was not inside the store so I went to find her. She was outside scanning the clearance items, and my blind dog and her stroller were outside the shopping area but within a few feet of my wife.
I then heard the female employee make a big deal about having to walk around my dog and her stroller while stating very loud that she was not a dog person.
I had my son go get the stroller so it wasn't bothering the entitled employee. I have no idea how my blind dog offended this employee as my dog was fully zipped inside the stroller and had no idea she was even there.
There was also a English Setter that was inside the store running loose. I'm not sure if it was an employees pup or what. I'm not sure how or why this lady works there when it's a dog friendly environment.
I have no future plans to go back to this store. If they want to have rude people working there then they will undoubtedly continue to loose...
Read moreRusted Moon is set back among the tight streets of Broad Ripple and is a spectacular find. The building itself is so comfortable from the outside that it truly catches your eye; from the casual entrance in the back through the shop to the main front door where you'll be greeted by kisses from the sweetest dogs you could ever hope to meet, this shop never fails to bring a smile to anyone's face. Upon entering Rusted Moon, I personally was first struck by the decorations lining the walls and the roof. Old packs and prayer flags, as well as the collected memorabilia sent from happy customers describing their adventures, takes up almost every available inch of the place. It seems as though each piece has a story behind it, stories which can be told by the most helpful and knowledgeable staff. Upon each visit to Rusted Moon, regardless of which area of interest I am looking into, someone is there to help me through the pre-planning phases of my adventures. These are the type of people who know what they sell because they wear the clothing, use the gear, field test the utilities, so on and so forth. I find no need to go to REI up north when I have people who don't just recite what the training video told them to say only 10 min north of downtown Indy. Any sport, any climate, any question, Rusted Moon is the...
Read moreI bought my first pair of hiking shoes here! I have very large feet for a woman (12 and 12 and a half in men’s) so I hate shoe shopping. When I set out to find hiking shoes I thought it was going to take all day, All my money, a lot of frustration and some tears. But Thanks to Tonya the process was painless for the first time.
She pulled out shoes only in my size that met the specifications I needed. I told her where I was planning on going and she provided suggestions and tips for me once I got there. She was very knowledgeable about all the types shoe and the pros and cons. I was able to find the exact shoes I needed. I actually like the way they look. They cost exactly as much as I expected, which surprised me because I have bought shoes at shoe carnival for the same price, that were not good quality hiking shoes like these.
So honestly thank you. Because I really mean it when I say I absolutely hate shoe shopping and this experience was actually...
