I had sort of a bad experience here that made me not want to return. I was approached by an associate while I was shopping for my husband. He asked if I needed help, and I asked if they had an athletic wear section. He said yes, and then told me where the clearance section was. I found this offensive, maybe he didn’t mean it in that sort of way but everything he did after that let me know it was offensive. I felt like he was saying I couldn’t afford anything else. Anyways, I continue shopping in the mens section, and the man just follows me around it made me feel uncomfortable. Then he comes up to me as asks if I would like him to box up the items for me. I told him I was still looking and hadn’t made any final choices yet. He said that’s fine, he would hold the items at his counter. I said I would like to decide first (I wanted to find pants to go with one of the sweaters I was holding) and he said oh that’s fine I’ll hold them up here until you’re done. Then he just took the items from me and took them to his counter. I said ok well in that case I have other shopping to do in other departments it’s gonna be a while (because at this point I’m upset and I feel like he wouldn’t even let me make a choice of what I wanted to buy, or look at the items a little more so I could find matching pants) so I left the department to look elsewhere hoping the other associates weren’t so rude and judgemental. But honestly it made me so upset I ended up leaving 5 minutes later, and I don’t think I’ll return. I don’t know if he thought I was a thief or what, but taking the items from my hand was extremely rude, and directing me to the clearance rack was also pretty rude because of the way he said it, and his actions afterwards. He was an older white male with white hair and a black suit with white shirt working men’s department. He’s running people out of the store. Terrible experience but that’s fine, I’ll take my business...
Read moreEvery year my mother gets Christmas pajamas for my sister and me. This year we got them from Von Maur expecting them to be pricey but beautiful and good quality. We loved our choice until the first wash. I came down the stairs wearing my freshly washed (on cold) pajama pants only to laugh hysterically with my sister at how absurdly short they were! My X-Large pajama pants, previously extra long, fit at capri length AT LEAST a few inches above my ankles. My sister grabbed her pair and they had similar shrinkage. I expect clothes to change after being washed over time but not 4-5 inches shorter (at least) after the first wash. If we had bought them for $10 from Old Navy or Walmart, the laughing would have continued but we do expect more from Von Maur.
I just called Von Maur in Greenwood, IN to inform them of the problem and see if there was anything to be done. I was told since they have been worn there can be no refund, which I don't think I had even asked for...I believe I had only explained the situation before being put on hold. I understand the policy and was not expecting Von Maur to absorb the loss but had hoped at least to be in touch with the manufacturer or someone who could help me replace the clearly defective items. I was not given the chance to discuss options after being told no return was possible and hung up on in mid-sentence. Perhaps she thought, or at least hoped, the discussion was over and was not intending to hang up on me.
That is fine. I gave Von Maur a chance to rectify the situation or at least show some concern that they are selling (at least some) defective merchandise. My mother spent $48 per pair of simple pajama pants for them to be worn once unless we choose to wear Christmas pajamas in the spring or summer when capri length might make sense. I'm disappointed in the lack of concern but it does not hurt me to never shop at Von Maur for "better quality worth the higher...
Read moreI just had one of the BEST Customer Service experiences EVER today in the Fragrance Dept. at the Castleton Square Store!!! To be honest I wasn’t looking forward to my visit to the store today because I had to return a bottle of expensive perfume I received as a gift, however did not care for. Unexpectedly I was greeted by Delorise, a warm, courteous & professional representative in your Fragrance Dept.. Delorise is the friendliest and most informed representative I’ve ever encountered!!! Thanks to Delorise’s demeanor, a day I would have preferred to avoid changed my attitude, brightened my day and lifted my spirit. Due to Delorise’s pleasant and thoughtful demeanor I was able find a new fragrance I’m delighted with. Further, from this point on I will be shopping at Von Maur, no longer Nordstrom’s, and I will be seeking Delorise’s assistance when I shop for any fragrance. Delorise, thank you so much! I throughly enjoyed our time together and for exceeding my...
