**Update: We were very promptly contacted by management in regard to our issues. He did review the cameras and confirm that our experience was not as it should have been. He did apologize repeatedly and assured us that the issue will be taken care of. He was very professional and addressed our concerns promptly. I have updated my review to 4 star, for quality of the icecream, and management support! Hopefully next time we go in, the experience with staff will be better and I can update to a 5 star!!!
Original post: My family and I have been coming to SubZero since it opened and we have always loved the place, until today.
When we came in (we are both offi ers in uniform) the two young gentleman made the comment to the two females working "you can help those officers, Im not" then they both laughed it off.
The young lady with braids that was helping us seemed irritated, but was okay otherwise. When the curly haired young lady got done with my ice cream (Banana Cream Pie Bismoth)she put it at the register without the hot fudge or whipped cream topping. I then stated to her that she forgot it and she stated "you want that? you want the whipped cream too?" to which I reply "yes, that's what I paid for." She then takes my icecream and makes one small lone of chocolate on it and brings it back. I then adk the gentleman at the register to add some more, and he gets visibly upset but does it.
After sitting down to eat we observe the curly haired young lady playing in her hair and scratching inside her ear right on the front line. She did not wash her hands before attending to other customers. The two gentlemen then start watching videos on their phones with the volume so loud we can hear it over the music playing. The videos were inappropriate for the work place. As they start talking about the videos, and other random things, they continually keep referring to each other as "ni**a" loudly at the front counter.
As more customers come in the young man with bleached lots in his hair begins to dig in his nose, at the register, with a napkin. While doing that the other young man begins pouring himself a drink at the counter, a mountain dew, and drinking it right on the line.
More and more customers start coming in and the kids don't address them, they all stand around like they don't see them, until the curly haired girl (whom still hasn't washed her hands) greets and assists them.
The entire experience was insanely unsanitary and unpleasant. After spending $22 on two icecreams, you would expect your experience to be much better than this.
We will probably...
Read moreI'd heard only good things going in, but my first - and likely last - experience was less than enjoyable. Unfamiliar with the process, I needed a little extra time to get my bearings straight before ordering. I quickly found that the staff did not like having to wait, so I decided to jump right into my order. I asked for lactose-free "cream" and, after a brief pause, for it to come in almond milk rather than soy. My interjection was quickly met with a "you have to ask for 'sugar-free' if you want almond milk." Needless to say, that was enough to prime me for an altogether bad experience, but things only got worse once I tried my "ice cream". Long story short, I never truly received ice cream. Instead, I got a partially frozen, non-homogeneous, WATERY (and not at all creamy) concoction in a cup. I'm no expert when it comes to nitrogen ice cream crafting - I'll admit that. However, I have a good enough understanding of general mixology to know that settled components must be stirred back into solution to produce an even composition. That was obviously not the case at this establishment. I actually witnessed the girl at the counter bring out a new, un-stirred pitcher of "non-dairy" (soy milk) to replace the empty bottle she essentially forced me to finish - despite my request for almond milk - and it was visibly un-mixed. Again, I couldn't tell you how to properly create nitrogen ice cream, but I do know that the "ice cream" I recieved did not look or, more importantly, taste good, and the people...person...serving it was less...
Read moreMy family and I went into get ice cream. It was busy as usual. The employees were all appeared very young and there were no gloves being worn. I watched one female that was mixing up my sons ice cream touch the spatula with her BARE finger then luck the ice cream that was on her finger and then go back to mixing with the same spatula! This is AFTER watching her touch her face and take her hat off and put back on and continue mixing ice cream. This was the most unsanitary experience EVER! In today's society and with health concerns, this is a MAJOR PROBLEM! When my wife asked for a manager, the young gentleman said he was the manager. We explained what we had witnessed, along with several other witnesses. The employee denied doing it and was disgustingly rude about it. She was being loud and continued to argue. The "manager" took over, asked the employee to step out and he personally remade the ice cream. We come to this location often and this was the worst experience by far! In my opinion, better hiring requirements need to be had. Better health and safety for sure! If I had been a secret shopper thus would be a fail! I'll also be contacting the corporate office as we spent way too much money and I am thankful for the young gentleman that helped us out. Severely disappointed 😞 in...
