More often than not, Minnco does a pretty good job of doing right for their customers. Been with them for many years, and they have come threw for my family a few times and helped us out. A word of warning though. DO NOT have a checking and savings account with them and opt for the courtsey pay AND over draft protection. The way their system is set up, the courtsey pay goes into effect before over draft protection. Which is ridiculous and more of a bank move than a credit union. So even if you have more than enough money to cover a debt in your savings and your checking goes into the negative, they pay the debt and charge you $30 upto $500 worth of transactions into the negative and then over draft protection will go into effect and take from savings. I'm out $60 because of the way their system is set up, even though the money WAS/IS there to cover the debts. Really was the last thing my family needed right now. Unless they change their system, stay away from courtsey pay and keep your money with you!
Update: The information I had been given was incorrect and overdraft protection does go into effect first. Thank you Minnco for looking into and correcting this...
Read moreI just wasted 45 minutes waiting to talk to Peggy (the only loan officer there today). The entire time we sat there, she continued to make small talk with an old lady in the office with her. She never let on that there was someone else waiting or made any indication that since their transaction was complete she should move on to the next customer. She just sat there and discussed grocery prices and drama between the customer's children. How disrespectful to everyone's time and how completely unprofessional can you be? If you can see you have customers and they can HEAR your conversation you should probably be respectful enough to move on. This isn't a social club or a therapists office. I can say I won't ever work with her on any of my banking needs due to the clear lack of professionalism displayed today. Thank you for wasting...
Read moreDon't seem to know how to handle IRA accounts. They tried to tell me I couldn't cash out before retirement, but I work retirement and benefits and know you can, there's just an extra 10% withheld for taxes on top of the 20%, for "withdrawal prior to retirement age". The manager called me back to apologize for their associate telling me that. I then asked about adding more money in while out of state and never got an answer on whether or not they can overnight me paperwork or do it via email, so I just have an IRA there that I can't add to or supposedly...
