If I could give this less than 1 star I would. Our mother moved into University House in late 2018 following our father's death in 2017. She had early dementia and had agreed that it was time to move to assisted living. From the earliest stages University House treated her 'a problem' rather than a resident needing assistance settling in and making friends. They knew all of her medical care and memory concerns prior to moving in, but once she was in they created an environment of anxiety and stress for her. They did little to help her settle and treated my sister and I as advisories, rather than team members in her care. A key concern was the unprofessional and unethical behaviour of the Head Nurse. She was a bully and we did not feel safe with our mother staying there after a number of incidents with the HN. The administration backed this bullying and manipulative behaviour. They also, in the midst of the first COVID lockdown threatened to kick our mother out if we didn't get 24 hour care that they organised. We had grave concerns with the quality of the caregivers which were regularly dismissed. We were trying desperately to move our mother at this time, as University House create an environment of fear and anxiety for our mother. They then dismissed the caregivers - without ever giving us a clear explanation of how or why. It is a deceptive, secretive, money-focussed business. Beware. If your loved one has any memory impairment at all. This is not a safe place for them.
And, when my mother left her couch had bedbugs. In case my scathing review wasn't enough to make you think twice. There is a reason they re-carpet and repaint after every resident moves...

Read moreIn 2019 my parents moved from their home of 60 years in California to University House Issaquah. My mother says every day how much she loves living there. We are all so happy they made the move. The staff are friendly, kind, caring and always willing to help. The apartments are lovely, spacious, quiet, and the safety features in place give us peace of mind. The landscaping is beautiful & meticulously kept. We were happy to discover that University House Issaquah offers something for everyone, and the entire staff do their best to meet the needs of the residents. Typically there are many activities offered such as lectures, movies, concerts, yoga and small group outings including to local stores. My parents have enjoyed the amenities including a dining room with excellent service, a salon, exercise room and a garden courtyard, just to name a few. Residents can participate & be active in the community, or just enjoy the peace & quiet and homey atmosphere. The University House Issaquah website gives a complete list and full description, if you select “Secondary Menu”. We highly recommend this location for senior living...
