I was told by their online customer service that they gave me a $15 credit. They didn't.
After the incident below, I tried to use the checkout that has an employee, however, Kroger now only keeps one line that is so busy your frozen items would go bad by the time you could checkout. So I had to use the self checkout and the same thing happened. The system asked the employee to check as it claimed not everything was scanned. It was. So I told the agent what had just happened on the prior visit. She said "She does this to everyone and yells at them". I said the shorter lady, and she replied "no, and pointed at the system screen". This is so ridiculous to make customers feel like criminals when their own employees know it doesn't even know what is scanned. Then the sign for Coke products said "Coke products" are buy two and get one free. It didn't ring up that way. She said well you already paid so you have to go to the customer service desk. Of course it had a line. When "Madden" the store employee said it was only for the 12 packs, I said the sign says "Coke Products" and has the six packs on the same pad. He said that is a vendor, as if Kroger allows false advertising when it is a vendor. So after spending a great deal of time dealing with this, while my frozen items were melting, I decided the only way Kroger will understand how they are treating customers is going to impact their sales. I have to drive an hour to get to Whole Foods, but they don't treat their customers like criminals or use deceiving practices to increase sales. I cannot tell you how frustrating Kroger has become. Even returning bottles is almost impossible as their machines are down the majority of the time and then they argue with you about where you go to get the refund. Some stores allow you to go to the customer service counter and some don't. If they don't the employees are rude as they seem like they hate Kroger and their jobs.
I just came home from the Kroger store. I purchased Diet Coke and some frozen items. As I was scanning, it started videotaping me and a recording started to ensure I scan every item. I did scan every item. But it didn't stop there. I had returned bottles and every Kroger you go to has bottle return machine that breakdown constantly. So when I finished scanning, I had an employee come over as the light was blinking for assistance for the bottle return. When she logged in, the video of me played for her and the recording said, "did this item get rung up". She didn't do anything, but I checked when I got home and ensured every item was rung up. Everything I purchased was on the receipt. But Kroger,. as they increasingly lower their level of customer service, which was already very low, just doesn't seem to care if you shop at Kroger or not. Being a small town, there are not a lot of options. I do use Whole Foods for most of my groceries, however they don't sell Coke products. But Kroger seems to be declining quickly. Employee's don't seem to care and are extremely unprofessional and rude. If they are going to use equipment to ensure items are scanned, they need to make sure it works. Just like their bottle return equipment, this filming of you trying to pay and then replaying it as if you are a criminal is extremely horrifying. Since the employee didn't check to see if the item was scanned, I feel certain they believe you stole something but they just don't care. But for those of us that are not stealing, it is horrifying to be recorded and then replayed to an employee to ensure you paid. I know there is a huge issue with people causing crime. But if Kroger cannot develop technology that works, they are creating a very serious legal issue. I paid for every item. I checked it when I got home since the employee didn't check and I can tell you, I'm so insulted this happened. The Kroger CEO and leadership needs to be held responsible for this behavior and their continued decline in how customers are being treated. Prices are going up and customer service is...
Read moreEDIT: Since making this review they have seemingly ordered a bunch of brand new smaller carts! Much appreciated Kroger! Thank you! As such I'll add a couple stars to my review. đ I go to this Kroger location often and can usually get everything I need. But there are a few issues that cause me to go to a different grocery store when possible.
First of all, you should never expect there to be any carts inside the vestibule. Nine times out of ten you'll have to go back to the parking lot to grab one. So I recommend just grabbing one before you even enter the store. Also, I'm pretty sure they only have one, maybe two of the smaller shopping carts, which is unfortunate as I find those perfect for my shopping trips. So I'm left to usually use a basket
Secondly, the variety of food isn't near as good as you'll find at Meijer. Obviously Meijer is quite a bit larger so I can't fault them too much for that, but the prices compared to Meijer are often much higher which makes Kroger not very competitive.
I will say, Kroger does have some decent sales but there are a lot of them you can only take advantage of if you have the app on your phone. They have a lot of "buy 5 save $5 mix and match" type of deals but I find those too difficult to keep track of. Keep an eye out for the weekly digital deals as those are usually a good way to save quite a bit of money.
Like most stores, they rarely have any regular checkouts open anymore. I prefer self checkout anyway, but if you are someone who likes to have an employee scan and bag your groceries, prepare to wait in line for a bit.
For some bizarre reason (shoplifting I guess?) sometimes the carts will literally lock up on you as you are leaving the store. So if you have a cart full of groceries you are left stranded until you transfer them all to a new cart. And remember, you'll probably have to go to the parking lot to find one. Meanwhile there's a line of people behind your locked up cart trying to maneuver around you to exit the store.
Don't even think about returning bottles here as there's only like 4 machines and once they are full it takes forever for staff to empty them. If you must return bottles here I highly recommend going first thing in the morning or at night to lessen the chance that you'll have to wait in line or worse, wait for them to be emptied.
I'd also like to add that in some aisles the music is absolutely way too loud. I can't imagine taking a child here who is sensitive to noises. It's especially bad in the freezer aisle with the frozen vegetables.
Overall, it's your average Kroger store. It's fine for a few items if you live nearby, but if you have to do a larger grocery haul or you don't live close, skip it and head...
