I was in a random town (Jackson) I haven't been in for quite a while....asked Google for the nearest grocery store, got NOTHING against a Piggly wiggly 🙂 so. Produce is SKY HIGH and I don't mean in general, I mean this particular only store. As is EVERYTHING else (extremely high). BORDERLINE gouging, if there is such a thing for groceries (there is...) $7 for basic cheese dip, $8 for the smallest Folger coffee ($4-$5 anywhere else) just WRONG.
You won't pay less than $1.20 for any can of veggies (tomatoes, corn, anything...) Frozen foods are double what they are at Walmart, Kroger, even Ingles beats their pricing.
However....the meats (I wasn't shopping for) were set at a very competitive price.... Leading me to believe they're slashing one side and making it up on the other. Just in a very extreme noticable extremely shady and harmful to customers way.
On top of that? Went to check out? Self check out ...put a $20 down and was putting the rest on the card. 🤪🤪🤪 Broke the machine. Told to try a second one, lady was going to ring it up for me (super sweet girl)... I told her (having pre-buyors remorse already) I didn't want half the stuff. Separated it. Was running late asked to just fix it so I can go?..WENT to go grab pie crusts for my grandmother and I'd be right back...
Now keep in mind....machine 1) has my ,$20.....
I come back and isntead of putting my stuff aside she rerang it all. Again
Boundaries. No means no. Said no, she finally transferred me to her personal register after that. And all is good. Passed a dollar general market AND an Ingles within five miles....
Read moreHaving worked here as a teenager I can tell you it was a nightmare. Things seemed to have improved greatly since then and I'm happy to see the store entering into the modern era with regards to appearance, lighting, atmosphere, etc. I don't often shop here, but when I do it is comparable to other grocery stores in the area. Decent prices, aisles are easy to navigate, oh and i can't speak for lunch, but they have killer breakfast if you have time for it. My only gripe is the smell that becomes more apparent as you walk towards the meat area.... I don't even know how to describe the odor. I've spoken to friends about it and we all just sort of acknowledge it as piggy wiggly air. It was present while I worked there, and it has stayed present through all the various remodels. No clue what it is, but if you can look past that, it really is a pretty decent place to do your...
Read moreI have never felt more robbed by a store. $20 for a container of mnms? $6 for a jar of sauce $5 for pasta noodles. $5 to $7 for the small bags of shredded cheese. $4.50 for one single can of soup. Literally paid 50 bucks for one dinner and horrible customer survice. Literally no employees to help me find anything. The lady at the checkout was sick and they closed all the self checks. Literally never seen prices so high. Publix is cheap compared to here and everyone is friendly and helpful. Nowhere to put a cart and homeless dude in the parking lot topped it all off. I'll never go here again. And recommend anyone that needs something to go to Ingles or a gas station even. It will be way cheaper and...
