Went here for a color correction after trying to do my own hair. I figured since I was at a salon I might as well get something nice done besides a basic color, so while waiting for an hour for my hairdresser I looked up hairstyles and found that I really wanted my hair to be cool brown with subtle balayage highlights. I was VERY specific that I did not want orange-brown, I wanted cool brown. After looking at the photos I found, my hairdresser looked a little confused and had to go ask another hairdresser how to do it. She started explaining how to do this effect to my girl, but she was explaining how to do ombre and not balayage. After realizing this my girl explained how great she was at doing "caramel" highlights on dark brown hair and that was what would look best on me with my skin tone. She seemed to really light up when talking about this and seeing that she obviously didn't know how to do a correct balayage, I looked up some subtle highlight looks and agreed that that would be ok since she couldn't do what I wanted. Three hours later (and an hour after they had closed) my hair was done. I felt a bit of urgency to get out of there since they had already been closed for an hour and all the girls were more interested in drinking wine, so I paid my $400 bill and left. Once in the car I snapped a photo in what was left of the sunlight only to see that I, in fact, had ORANGE highlights!!! I cried the whole way home, and still to this day do not know how the bill could have possibly been so high. I would like to point out that while I was there, my hairdresser had a client from earlier in that day come back to get her hair fixed because when she got home she realized her hair was orange. I do not remember her name, I believe I may have forced it out of my memory, but I do know that she was a "Level 1" stylist. This was on a Saturday after they had closed, they were closed the next day, and then I went on vacation for a week. At first I wanted to complain and get it fixed, but I have learned to embrace my inner Carrot-Top. I will not be trying this place again, and am still on the search for a stylist who knows how to...
Read moreLet me preface by saying I have been going to Mantra Salon in Marsh Landing off and on for 5 years. I have had color, cut, and numerous Brazilian Blowouts. During these past years I have only had on 1 occasion, that the BB did not take to my hair.. I phoned them to let them know, I went in for a consult, and it was determined that it indeed did not take. They promptly did another treatment, at no extra charge. I recently had one done on 5/25/16. Whilst my hair was being done, i asked my stylest how long should wait before I get my colored, her exact words were" oh 2 weeks should be plenty of time". I waited exactly 3 1/2 weeks before I went in for color, just to make sure. I told my hair stylist t, that I had a BB done on 5/25, she proceeded with taking caution and using all the right products to ensure my hair would keep the BB. It did not. I phoned Mantra Salon after this happened, and I actually spoke with the owner, Ginger. She told me that I should always color first, then do the BB treatment.( I already knew this, as I have had many done. She suggested that I purchase the BB MASK, explaining that it will bring the BB Treatment back to life in my hair. What a waste of $. She never offered to have it re-done, even after I told her, that her girl that did my hair, told to wait at least weeks. So, lets calculate my disappointing experience. BB Treatment $175 Shampoo & Conditioner $70 BB Blowout Dry oil~ $26 The BB MASK ~ $40 Total ~ $331, before tax and tip. So you would think that the owner would want her clients to be happy, because "word of mouth" is your biggest advertisement". Will I go back ~ no. Will I recommend it to anyone I know~ no. Am I disappointed ~ VERY I hope that in the future Mantra and the owner Ginger take better care of their clients. Signed, Unhappy...
Read moreI received the eyelash extension from Lauren at the Mantra salon. Lauren sold me a set of eyelashes for a classic appearance. Upon completion of her service, Lauren gave vague instructions on the care of my eyelashes and how much time in between visits to schedule. WhenI returned a couple weeks later, Lauren indicated that I could have waited longer to return as I had plenty of eyelashes left. I followed her advise to wait longer; however, returning for the 3rd visit , Lauren informed me 4 weeks was too long. Lauren would now have to charge me about 3 times as much for a new set because I waited too long. Lauren indicated she is the manger of the Salon and makes the decisions.I left without an eye lash fill. I was very disappointed with Laurens poor communications skills and her lack of loyalty towards an established client. I followed up with a different salon the next morning. They informed me it was not necessary to have a new set of eye lashes as I had plenty of eyelashes left to fill. They did not charge me for a new set of eyelashes only a fill. The new salon treated me with respect and I will extend the...
