I will never return to this location. I spend A LOT of money at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels because I have a home based business. Today I really felt profiled and treated like a peasant. I spent 30 mins walking around looking for an associate so that they could bring me a Cricut machine from the back (they keep the display box on the shelf). I was finally told to go up front and they would bring one out when I get there. Matthew rang up my items and I presented a check for payment. I gave him my check and my passport. He opened a book (instructions in accepting a check) and began writing on my check. He then ran the check through the system it came back APPROVED and he wrote that approval number on the check. The last step was to get approval from his manager. She came over, saw all of the information was correct and looked on their return check list (I was not on it). I guess that wasnt good enough so she took it to her big boss. He told her that he needed my ID instead of my passport (makes no sense). After presenting him my ID, he came from the back, looked at me and pulled out his cell phone to call the bank... this is the part that pissed me off. Im sure thats out of the ordinary and I'm sure that plenty of people have written checks. I felt like he was only doing that because of my color. I have written several checks to Hobby Lobby & never felt this way. It would have been different if he would have came over to introduce himself or explained the issue. My son had an appointment and I didn't have time to stand and wait on him so I paid with my credit card (something I dont like to do for my business). I had to go and request my check back from him& he seemed lost that i was asking for it back. As i spoke with my husband, i will return all $396 worth of merchandise back to the store on tomorrow and take my business...
Read moreI love the airport Hobby Lobby the best out of the 3 locations in Jacksonville. When I'm there the whole staff is friendly and smiling. I do alot of business in the floral department and Mrs.Lisa is on her game when it comes to putting in large orders for me. She is so sweet and such a hard worker. At check out, Alexandria is usually my cashier. She is always pleasant and always holds great conversation, and puts a smile in my face when I see her! Taylor is another wonderful cashier, who is so nice and makes my day! Thank you to the female managers Mrs.Sayutt always helps me load my bags, and is such a nice person/hard worker, she has a great sense of humor and makes those around her laugh, great woman! Mrs Sharmini, another wonderful manager that always has a great attitude, and quick to help. To the guys and girls who help me load my car, excellent customer service! I will continue to give this location my business. Thank you to everyone at this location for your help and making this the best store around!
P.s. Went to the Mandarin location to buy a certain garland they had in stock, all the other stores in Jax were sold out. Only to be stopped by an older lady that works in floral. She was adding Garland to the shelf, as a truck just came. I asked if I could have the garland she had on hand. She said "how many" I asked for all of them & she told me she rather I didn't take all the garland she just got in. So I asked for only 25 of them. I was shocked and disappointed by her unwillingness to sell me that garland. I had a huge wedding I was making Garland for and had to drive out of my way to Daytona Beach, Fl (a 3 hour round trip) just to get what I needed to finish my job.
Now I order in bulk from Mrs. Lisa at the airport, and don't have to worry about running out. So grateful for...
Read moreI recently visited the Hobby Lobby in Florida and was deeply disappointed with the service I received regarding my nonprofit tax exemption. As the head of a nonprofit organization, I frequently travel and have successfully used my tax-exempt card at various Hobby Lobby locations across the country without any issues. However, at this location, I was denied the ability to use my card.
I was informed by Shamar, a representative, that it was “company policy” that I could not use my Georgia-based nonprofit card in Florida. This has never been a problem at any other Hobby Lobby I’ve visited, so I found this explanation confusing. I asked to speak to the store manager, Michael, who seemed unsure of the policy and mentioned he would need to call corporate. As I was already holding up the line, I explained that I didn’t have time to wait for that.
When I requested an email address to send my complaint in writing, instead of giving me a direct contact, Michael only provided the Hobby Lobby website. I have since reached out to corporate, who confirmed that this is NOT their policy. I even showed valid identification, my tax-exempt card, and my church card, yet I was still denied the ability to use my nonprofit tax exemption.
This experience was frustrating, and I expected better from Hobby Lobby, given my previous positive experiences at other locations. I followed up with this issue today and was told by store manager Michael he couldn’t give me a copy of store policy in writing or allow me to view it, I just have to take his word for it. Which I definitely don’t believe because corporate did not tell me this was there policy. I hope this issue will be addressed promptly, going forward so no other nonprofit organizations face this inconvenience...
