The customer service and employees of this place are great. I have had the best experience here of any grocery store I've been to. There are always cashier lines open, always baggers to help, that part of the experience is exceptionally high quality.
However, the store's selection is really lacking, especially compared to the Winn-Dixie it replaced, especially on health-minded items, healthy alternatives to common items, and healthy varieties of common items. Their brand selection is also very limited, usually carrying only one name brand of any particular item, and the generic Johnson's brand.
The store is also laid out extremely confusingly, and they seem to overstock some items while understocking others. Flour has a 10ft-long section of a whole shelf section, from top to bottom, all to itself, containing maybe 3 or 4 different brands - whereas chicken broth only has 2 rows of items on one shelf, and only one brand. Many items can only be found on an end-display, and their location isn't indicated by the signs in the store.
The hot deli is very tasty, but again it suffers from a lack of variety, especially in healthier choices. It's almost all fried, classic southern soul food, which is tasty for sure, but...
Read moreIt was my first visit here as I just recently moved to jville and I love it!! Unlike Walmart they actually have food on the shelves. Every shelf they have the same or within a few cents of the same price as Walmart without all the extra bs. I'm going there from now on. I got pics attached that shows aisle after aisle was full. They take cash and even ring up your groceries and bag them while being polite to you.. You won't find that at Walmart nowdays- I'm thru giving my money to a multi trillion dollar company that wants to make us ring up our groceries some may prefer it but I'm disabled and last time I checked I don't work for them why should I ring them up bag them while your being watched like your a thief. It's Johnsons for me from now on. Johnsons may me a tad bit higher than Walmart but for me...
Read moreJohnsons is one of my favorite grocery because of their homemade hot deli bar with all my favorite Southern foods. Their fried catfish rivals that of the expensive restaurants and the sides are delicious. My favorites are the summer squash casserole and the sweet potato casserole. So good! Not to mention the sales on things like Blue Bell ice cream and other favorites, but not to forget some harder to find items like original Dream Whip. And, although I'm not a big meat eater, but everyone I know that is, makes a special trip to Johnsons just for theirs. So, if you want a home cooked meal or just a friendly local supermarket that won't have you walking one mile to the next for milk then bread, then...
