I came in for my appointment (first time customer) and the place was a ghost town. There was a receptionist, and my stylist. That was it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, that maybe they were just having a lull, in spite of being told the schedule was pretty much wide open for the week. I greeted my stylist, and though she seemed very shy and nervous, she was friendly. All fine. Then, during the wash, we were talking casually about how long we'd been at our current jobs, and she hesitantly confessed that she had just graduated cosmetology school TWO WEEKS earlier. In spite of this slightly alarming news, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. I tried to explain the cut I was considering, and I showed her a photo of myself (not even a celebrity or some outrageous expectation haircut, but a picture of my own hair). She kind of hemmed and hawed until I just kind of gave in and told her just to do a trim this time, but that I wanted to add some more texture and to have my bangs cut to be like those in the photo. She goes to work, trims a little here and there (very slowly, which is understandable for her experience level), and then tells me she's done. Not having done any texturizing, or even touching my bangs. So I had to essentially coach her through the rest of it. By the time she got to my bangs, I could see her hand visibly shaking. I wasn't sure who was more nervous, me or her. She didn't butcher them, but they weren't completely what I asked for either. I finally just told her it was fine (which is my fault, I know if I wasn't satisfied, I should have persisted, but I was genuinely not comfortable with going much further), and paid her the $40 for the cut, plus a tip (because I'm not a jerk, and it's not exactly her fault she was hired as a stylist beyond her skill level). I left feeling anxious, and my hair looked like she had barely done anything to it.
$40 isn't pocket change for me. Getting my hair cut is considered treating myself, and it's something I don't have a chance to do very often. I expected to pay $40 by all means, but for $40, I expect a skilled stylist who has the confidence and expertise to justify charging that much. If I had wanted a hair cut like the one I received, I would have had it done at a cosmetology school or a Supercuts for a lot less money.
Like I said, I hold no ill-will for my stylist. I'm sure she'll be a great stylist one day. I just want to put it out there that if you want a seasoned stylist for your money, be prepared for one that isn't,...
Read moreI'm going to go off what the "mad mistress"stated and with the experience I viewed yesterday, I'm sure this will reach not only the manager of the facility but also the owner of this establishment. When I came into the facility to receive a cut I sat down got a wash and told the young lady I wanted a simple "bob". My hair according to her already had a line for the Bob. As she began cutting my hair she started talking about some personal things that were going on in her life and she started cutting the top of my hair. Mind you my hair was at chin length. Needless to say I assumed she knew what she was doing..about 10 minutes later, my hair was gone and and cut into three separate sections that were very distinct down my head. It looked as though I allowed someone to brutally cut my hair off. She then called over two additional salon members to try to fix my hair, at this point I was then sure this young lady had no idea what she was doing. when I stated that this was not a bob, she stated what do you mean? It's just that your hair is fine. My hair is most definitely not fine. I gathered my stuff and immediately left. She did not apologize for what she did nor did the manager on site. My daughter who sat there and saw the entire thing stated that as I was waiting for them to cash me our for the wash they had conversation that said..don't worry about it ...it is no big deal... Half of my hair was short on top and the other half was long. I looked like i had a mullet. When I left I went to another salon to ask if they could fix it and the comment that they stated was whoever did this to your hair should NOT be cutting hair. If you have young new employees touching people's hair it is suggested like in any other facility you work at that you slowly transition and monitor them to ensure the quality of work and service. She has no right to do this to people hair and obviously no right to be holding this profession. It's obviously noticed that more than one customer has noticed this and is suggested that you look into it before the Business Beura is contacted in regards to your establishment, let alone you lose your license as your service and managerial skills are highly in question. I would not recommend this...
Read moreI came in about a week ago to get a layered bob with bangs. I had this style in the past and was very excited to not have to do as much with my hair and still feel and look good. I unfortunately left the first time very displeased. My hair was curled when i left and it looked adorable but after showering i realized my bangs were uneven and cut shorter than asked, there were no face framing pieces and my hair was flatter than usual. I spoke with the stylist about coming back in and what we could do to help me like the cut better. the second time around however i was met with the same result. at one point i was told my hair was left uneven to see how i felt.. and to that i was very confused. the stylist spoke about her relation to the owner and mentioned how some “don’t take it seriously” as she was actively cutting my hair which at that point made me uncomfortable and ready to be done with my haircut. i have had my hair up to my ears in a bowl cut and it looked better. She told me three things i should buy to style it to look better.i should not have to style my hair for it to feel...
