Only giving two stars because some of the sub-contractors were great. Otherwise, they would get no stars. Poor communication after the deposit was paid. The "designer" ordered some of the kitchen/dining room cabinets the wrong size, leaving a 5" gap between them and existing flooring. They ended up building in a void behind the cabinets. I would have much preferred the correct/more functional storage space. Her response to my displeasure was "sorry, I didn't think it would matter". The electrician they sent, used a long (6-8") drill bit to drill through a 2" floor and drilled right into a copper hot water pipe and flooded a portion of the lower level. My husband and I were both home, but instead of asking us where the water shut off was, he ran up and down the stairs a few times before I noticed and asked what was going on. In the meantime he had turned a valve on our hot water heat that could have been disastrous if my husband hadn't rectified it. When is boss came to see the damage he tracked grease and mud onto our carpet - that is still there. Right next to the big semi-circle stain left by the bottom of a paint can left by the painter they used. The guy who applied the plaster to the repaired ceiling from the broken pipe, used my towels to swipe a some of the mess and left them in a wet heap on the floor, along with glops of plaster on the floor and walls. The shower door should have been ordered as soon as the shower enclosure was done. I was told it would take about 3 weeks. At the 3 week mark, I was told the door had arrived and they would be contacting me with an installation date. The following week I called the sub-contractor myself to try and find out when they would be there. They informed me that the door had just been ordered and would take about 3 weeks to arrive! The response from Marling was a rant from the salesperson/designer about how hard she works, takes work home, loses sleep over her job. That was the last communication we ever received from her. Not so much as a thank you from them for an extensive remodel. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreBought a door 2 years ago no problems, go back to get another door, we want to match the doors. The salesman is no longer in sales. Encountered Jeff J, he writes up 2 "quotes" the proceeds to order the wrong door. We are told they make the doors themselves. WRONG!! They use a company right in the town that I live! We told Jeff we came in from Milwaukee to purchase from them. Do you think he could have said hey the door is made there, skip coming back here and the gas and pick up there? NO! We go back to Janesville, get the door come home only to find out it's the wrong door, he ordered the wrong size door! We call and get no where except to hear him say "ah huh, ah huh" We had enough and talked to Scott Bower the Manager he talked to JEFF and Jeff calls us back to say that he will order us another door AT COST!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! We said YOU SCREWED UP JEFF! He would never admit it! We said we can take you to small claims and then he talked to Scott his manager and said they would get us the correct door. We found out that we can pick up the door ourselves right in Milwaukee where they are made, NOT MADE BY MARLINGS!!! I called the owner TOM MARLING who questioned why I was calling him and I explained the whole story and he acted like he didn't believe me. He called back to say that JEFF made a mistake writing 2 quotes, Tom said he was sorry and I said we wasted gas driving to Janesville to get a door that was MADE in Milwaukee! He offered us a gift card for our troubles and I said so what we can come and spend more money at your store?? I don't think so! Bottom line....READ THE QUOTE THAT JEFF WRITES UP...HE MESSES UP AND NEVER SAYS HE'S SORRY ONLY MAKES EXCUSES! ASK WHERE THE DOOR IS MADE~IF IT SAYS WESTERN IT'S MADE IN MILWAUKEE, WI. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEM! OVER 100 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS AND THIS IS HOW THEY ARE...
Read moreDo not buy cabinets from Marling. I don’t typically leave reviews but I have been boiling over my cabinets for 6 years. We purchased cabinets in 2016 for a house remodel. At first Ruth was nice and helpful. That was short lived after I ordered our cabinets. She rushed me through the process to order and I later doubted my choices which she quickly brushed me off for. After the order I hardly heard from her. I loved the look of my cabinets when they arrived but they are so cheaply made and I have regretted buying from them ever since. Now let’s talk about installation. Their installers left so many “chips” on my white cabinets, doors and drawers were installed unlevel, counter top was cracked at installation, and they left too small of an opening for the dishwasher. I also purchased quartz counters from Marling. Their installers did not mount and glue the dishwasher mounting bracket to the under side of the counter in between the counter and the cabinet that is industry standard for solid surface counter tops. So the dishwasher was originally mounted on the sides by the plumber because he had no choice. The side mount and too small of an opening caused my 1st dishwasher to rub and leak. I am still dealing with this mess. I ordered a new dishwasher a year ago, and reached out to Marling with my issues. They sent a guy out to cut some off the cabinet spacer peice but he still didn’t make the opening big enough for the dishwasher and of course blamed everything on the plumber. So still dealing with this a year later because we had to use an after market mounting bracket that does not hold the dishwasher in place very well but was out only option. I will never do business with...
