I recently took my new engagement ring to them to be sized down from a 9.5 to a 9. I originally wanted to do bumps on the inside of the ring instead of sizing it down, as I was worried about causing issues with the integrity of the ring. The associate said that it would not be an issue, and that it would be cheaper to size it down, so I should go that route. I said that if it would not damage the ring, I would be fine with doing that instead.
When it was given back to me, a large chunk of metal was missing out of the band (a mark from the resizing), many of the stones were crooked in the setting, and there were gaps between the stones that were not previously present. Apparently several stones fell out during the first resizing (which I was not informed of), and they tried to put them back.
I got outside opinions, who advised me to bring it back, as it could have been an honest error. I did, and they said that it should never have been given to me in that condition. They did not charge me for the second repair.
When it was returned to me again, the mark was removed from the resizing, but many of the stones were still crooked in the setting and there were gaps between them. Before giving the ring back to me, the associate was clearly displeased with how it looked, and had it checked again by other staff. They said that it was a learning experience for them, and that they would not take a ring like mine in the future because of the possibility of damage. They said that there was nothing they could do unless I wanted to pay to have them add more diamonds or have them size it back up to a 9.5. They were completely unapologetic at the last interaction, and did not offer to pay for their damage or send it to someone else to have them reset.
I did not originally want it resized, they assured me it would be fine, and then they did not fix the damage they caused.
They had multiple opportunities to make the situation right (send it to someone else to reset the stones, pay me the cost to repair it elsewhere, buy the ring from me at the original price so I could buy an undamaged one, etc.), but they chose not to.
I took it to another jeweler to get an additional opinion, who quoted me $50 per stone to have it reset. There are lots of small stones, so the cost adds up. In the other jeweler's words, "It's not arts and crafts. They should be able to resize it 1/2 size without rearranging all of the stones".
I'm very disappointed, because I've heard so many good things about this store. I've brought pieces to them before and they were helpful in those interactions. I wish they would take accountability for their error, whether it was intentional or not. I'm a very detail oriented person, so it sucks that I have to wear a damaged ring or pay hundreds to repair the damage I...
Read moreFirst time walking in I felt like family, Mary and Carol immediately made me feel like family. Mary's confidence and knowledge of her products put me instantly at ease. I brought a picture found on face book and they were able to find a matching setting and band that was almost identical. She took a sizable amount of her time for a walk in. She explained the whole process and the grading system in simple terms. I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day to finalize the setting and diamond.
The next day my future fiance and I went to the appointment. Mary and Carol made the experience special and unique. The whole store went above and beyond and made that day a day to remember. I just want to thank them and that they won a...
Read moreTook my dream ring in to be repaired. After discussing a couple different options Chris the salesman and the on-site jeweler, instead of reproducing my ring, I now have three new beautiful diamonds in my ring and it is absolutely gorgeous. After I gave the ok to repair/replace the diamonds, they indicated it wouldn’t be until after the new year that it would be done, but the very next day after inspecting the diamonds, they called and told me it was done. I was willing to wait but I’m glad I didn’t have to. Now I am showing off my gorgeous ring. I would recommend anyone going to The Blue Diamond to get repairs or any work done to their jewelry. The staff were all so nice and helpful. No pressure...
