Addison Mall — Local services in Jefferson Township

Terrible experience at this location. If you don't want to be profiled and falsely accused don't shop here WARNING lengthy post* After dropping a friend home in the area we came across this Target. My daughter was forced to tag along with me and since Target is her absolute favorite place, we decided to treat ourselves with a bit of shopping. Upon entering the store we did our usual divide and conquer as I'm usually looking at home goods and she is in the clothing and makeup department. At one point when we came together , I noticed a man moving strangely in the area and coughing grossly. I saw him several times in my vicinity but thought nothing of it. He seems hurried and weird so I kept my distance. After being there a while we checked out and headed out the door. As soon as we stepped out the first set of doors an employee came running from the outside blocking us in and the strange man approached from inside blocking us in. The man said he needed to talk to us specifically "her" (my daughter) and when asked why he said she could tell me once we got inside. As we were walking to the office he asked how old she was. When I told him she was 18 he said that I couldn't come in with her. A few minutes after she went in one of the employees left out of the room and then came back with some items in their hand. I could see someone blocking the door from the inside. She was probably in there 10 minutes and came out. I asked the strange man ( he never identified himself) why he asked her into the office and he said, she can tell you. And then said "oh, you can't come back to the store" In the car my daughter informed me that he accused her of stealing because they found empty boxes in the cosmetics department and she was seen looking at items but didn't purchase them. She said he also asked if she was from Chicago and when she said no he said he didn't believe her. He threatened to look up her "criminal record" and took her picture! She said she tried to call me and he told her not to use her phone. She said he searched her bag and when he couldn't find anything he took a half used item that belonged to her saying it was similar in name to one of the boxes they found. She also told me they "found " the items which I'm assuming is what the employee had in their hand. We shop at Target quite regularly and up to this point have had very pleasant experiences. My daughter has been traumatized by this experience as have I. The fact that this man accosted us as we left the store, locked a young woman in a room denying her access to her parent, searched her person, called her a criminal and took her photo is outrageous. Oh and he told her he'd been following her, apparently he bragged about how she didn't notice. She didn't notice because she was minding her business. I hate to believe this was racially motivated but I will say there was a group of teenage girls who were not African American or seemingly"from the Chicago" hovering in corners but did not receive the same treatment. My daughter does not steal not to mention I spent a significant amount of money that day, she didn't need to steal a few dollars worth of cosmetics. I reported this to Target and have received no response after my phone conversation with the 800 number I was able...

Dappers, has great food and very fond memories of my childhood. They have added a couple new additions to that mall too. Carter's Outlet, Target, and a few other stores that I can think of off the top of my head. Dapper's chicken Caesar salad is something that is worth the trip for. I have family that comes in from California and that's one of the places that my niece wants to go too. There's only one thing regarding the Dappers, it is at this location that the salad is phenomenal! I have been to one of the other ones, it was not the same at all, and I would not waste my time...

This is about a half mile walk from the Addison exit on the blue CTA line, which is convenient since it's a nice straight 15 minute walk. There is a Target, a Dollar Tree, a Starbucks and a Panda Express here as well as some other retail locations. I mention these ones because they are the ones I frequent the most. All of these locations are very nice and there is a very cool tea bar in the Panda Express. Plenty of parking with an additional parking structure behind the Dollar Tree.
