I just got home from Aldi and the cashier nearest to the door was very rude and treated me like a person trespassing instead of a paying Customer.
Their SIGN says they're open until 9p but they're not. I was literally standing at the entry doorway when the time turned to 9p and it was already locked.
So myself and someone who had gone to her car to get her bags were standing at the exit door for 3 mins until another customer finally came out.
As soon as I got inside and started toward the items needed, she said firmly "No." I then said "but I just need 2 items" and folded my hands like I was praying. I didn't get a chance to also say that I had been waiting at the door before closing time or even to ask if she was the manager.
Because instantly she said VERY firmly "Ma'am, you need to GO. NOW." Again, like someone who was trespassing or had otherwise broken the law. To which I replied "WOW," and calmly walked out the door and drove away.
I am furious and didn't deserve to be treated that way, not to mention they closed the doors early. And I'm honestly afraid to return to the store lest she unnecessarily escalate again.
I get it. I used to work retail and it totally sucked when someone came walking in 5 mins before or at closing, but we still had to let them in because we were open.
I will NOT be letting this go and will contact headquarters...
Read moreShopping in Aldi's has always been a pleasure and an adventure. You never know what you might find. This store is as good as most. My only disappointment is having to deal with self checkout. It was always such a pleasure to interact with Aldi's friendly and very efficient staff. I didn't mind bagging my own groceries. I sincerely thought Aldi might not head in that direction, but I suppose it was inevitable. However, I am still crushed. Now it feels like just another grocery store. Our only interaction is with a camera. We wait to get help if something doesn't scan properly, wait for help should you scan something incorrectly and heaven forbid you want to purchase wine or beer. Now you wait again for an ID check. Progress and technology may have made life simpler and more profitable for the merchant, but we have lost the art of communication, human interaction and a sense of community. Not to mention the loss of jobs. I will get off my soap box now. This isn't breaking news to say the least, and I don't believe things will change because I wish it, but it felt good to vent. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to make out a...
Read moreUpdate: the new layout is making all stores have identical floorplans. However, it is not a logical layout. I blame the CEO for not using common sense. That being said if you can find your favorites you will still enjoy a lower grocery bill. Great prices.
Bags gor salebor bring your own bags because you will want to fill them all. Also, boxes are available for you to pack your groceries. And packing your groceries won't hurt you. Rent a cart for .25¢ and when you bring the cart back you get your quarter back. It keeps the prices low. Their prices even beat Walmart. Just so you know they have limited selections. They have Choice A and Choice B, maybe. If you are a shopper who wants the store to cater to your every desire and carry every brand, then go and spend twice the money and...
