Super shocked at the AUDACITY of these previous negative reviews for this location, like as if this place owes any of you any thing at all? Do you not understand the whole actual point of a THRIFT store? Maybe the concept of “reduce, reuse, recycle,..but also a POSSIBILITY of a little extra cash“ is hard to get a grip upon for a generation of ppl just so money hungry and greedy and quite frankly, Whiney and entitled.? Either way no one is forcing you to go through all your clothes n make the trip here, the way they purchase items is solely based on their procedure of supply & demand but of course what’s on trend and what will sell/won’t sell .. this is a thrift store but a SMALL growing business still at the end of the day. If you want real actual profits for your clothes, used or not, go to FB marketplace or poshmark, Depop, any online platform.
Wearas, yes it takes time and hustle to sell too on those but do not throw this establishment under the bus for your financial come downs. They are not meant to be an actual source of income, let alone a pity party for you to stomp on when you don’t get even close to equivalent of what you paid for something. These reviews just cracked me up bcus my mind is just mind boggled at the prerogative here.
Ever since they’ve been at the St Lucie West location and now moved here to Jensen Beach & have gone through employees over the years, I’ve experienced nothing but above and beyond kind & courteous, staff and service. And their sense of fashion as well has always kept up w the trends, they are continuously on point & super cute for extremely affordable creative style & aesthetic.
I absolutely adore this Platos Closet & the girls & guys working here for-sure know how to throw outfits together , always gives me inspo and genuinely knows how to efficiently run the store as a team.
Please if you read this far, def check this store out. I have enjoyed shopping here for years weather it be to get new wardrobe accent pieces, to spice or change up my aesthetic , some athletic leisure wear (they have really cute matching sets), or even some unique jewelry pieces . Girl literally I promise you it is a gem in this town and you truly never know what you’ll find! They also post a lot on their Instagram so sometimes you can look at that and see what’s in store as well!
All pix below were fits or other items purchased from them, Cheers 🥂 well deserved 5 stars from...
Read moreVisited their new location in Jensen Beach to sell a bin full of name brand clothes, some still had tags on. Less than a minute after I walked out of the store to go to a different store in the plaza, my phone received a text message that they were done reviewing my items. Right away my instinct told me that the employee put no effort into actually looking at my clothes and I was right. Upon returning to the store she informed me that she won't be buying anything because my clothes are out of style and I have women brands and they sell junior. I had a few items that were women's, sure, but most of them were junior brands such as Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Old Navy, Aeropostal, etc. I have been shopping in the junior department for most of my adult life so for her to say I had no junior brands was complete bull. My clothes are still in style, by the way, having bought clothes that are timeless styles and colors and can still be seen on racks today. When I argued this point she asked me what brands I brought in...Shouldn't she, who supposedly looked at my clothes, know what brands I have??? She then referred me to a store affiliated with them that bought women's brands; Style Encore. I then drove the 15 minutes away to try my luck with them. What do you know. The woman told me that I have a lot of junior brand clothes that they can't take and to try Plato's Closet. Surprise surprise. I then informed her that I just came from there, was told I don't have junior brands and was referred to this store. She gave me a knowing look like she's heard that before. She was kind enough to offer me money for the pieces that were women's brands, which I accepted. I now will sell my stylish junior brand clothes online myself. I walk away from this experience feeling cheated and lied to because the employee couldn't take the time to actually look at my clothes. The store was literally empty of customers and there was no one selling at the same time so she could have put in the effort to really see the gems I had in the bin. I'll not be returning to sell to them. I can make more money selling...
Read moreIf I could leave no stars, I would. I brought 3 bins of clothing in, and was offered pennies for 21 items. I don't know why I waste my time with this place because it's an all day event finding the time to drop clothes off and wait all day to be offered nothing for a few items. I had a Lululemon align dress that was $150.00 and they offered me $7.00. It was brand new and literally never worn. There are so many gross, old, worn out pieces of clothing in there but they don't take brand new, neutral, classy looking clothes. Not one person in there has common sense or acknowledgment of anyone walking through the door. They all act as if you're ruining their day by wanting to sell clothes to them (which is what I thought the whole point of the store was). All of the employees look dirty & unkept. My friends & I are going to go in & start taking pictures of all the dirty, stained-filled clothes with holes in them & post the pictures for all to see. The employees really need to take a shower before they come in to work. I would never buy the garbage in there, maybe that's why the store is filled with bedbugs,...
