Safe Roads Driving School — Local services in Jersey City

i could have given them less than 1 star if it was possible. I had the worst possible experience with them. I booked for a 45 min driving review with road test. They sent me an invoice for $195. I paid $20 in advance to book the appointment. The invoice mentioned "Chokri" as the driver/ instructor. Instead they sent a can who called him self "Shukreen" (not exactly sure what his name was). There was no logo of Safe Roads on his car. He then demanded that i need to pay $205 since the cost was $225. I told him the invoice was $195. After we drove towards Rahway, he entered a small parking lot to practice. I had to instruct the guy how to properly put the cones for parallel park. Thats where i faced the worst experience. While practicing in noticed the steering wheel locked wile doing parallel park. I mentioned a couple times and he said you just had to adjust. Everytime i tried to parallel park, i didnt work perfectly due to the locking of steering wheel. I asked him what is the solution, he screamed at me and got out of the car and banged the car door. Then he started calling the Saferoads office complaining about me. He also threatened me that he wont do the road test and we can drive back home right now. All this 10 mins before road test. I spoke to the Saferoads reception and they said that all the cars lock after 2-3 attempts of parallel park (which is absolute rubbish.). I just wanted to get out of that parking lot and go to the test. I composed myself and went for driving test in the same car. Considering all the screaming and banging of car door by the instructor, i failed the test. Please do not ever book any classes with them. They are unprofessional, the cars need fixing which they dont bother to and they dont even have the courtesy to refund the money for the horrible experience by the driver. We drove back to my dropoff location. The unprofessionalism doesnt end here. This instructor was now in the driving seat and he was talking on the phone in one hand while driving the car with only one hand. I had to tell him i dont feel safe while he is driving with one hand. I hope nobody faces such trauma with this driving...

Choukri was my third driving instructor in my driving learning journey, but thanks to Choukri at Safe Roads School, it turned into an empowering and even enjoyable experience. Extremely patient and respectful.

One of the things I appreciated most is that Choukri doesn’t just teach you how to pass the test—he teaches you how to drive well, for life, I passed my test thanks to him and I am planning to take a couple additional hours for advanced driving. He has some of the smartest little tricks and methods that truly simplify driving and take the guesswork out of situations that can be overwhelming at first (parallel parking, anyone?). He’s incredibly flexible with scheduling, always punctual, and just an all-around reliable human being. And beyond all the technical stuff, he’s simply a very kind, respectful, and humble person—which makes the learning environment that much more comfortable. My time learning with him was a true fun and learning time.

The school itself is also extremely professional. I often communicated with Chelsea & Another young lady on weekends at the front desk, and they are both so on top of everything. You get clear text and email reminders for your lessons, confirmations for your road test dates, and any changes are handled promptly and efficiently. It’s organized, smooth, and reassuring every step of the way. No delays, no cancellations.

This is a 100% genuine recommendation from someone who is now a licensed, much more confident driver thanks to this experience. If you're on the fence or shopping around for a driving school, go with Safe Roads—and ask for Choukri if you can. He made all...

I had my first lesson with them this morning and I am SO happy I did. I'm incredibly afraid of driving and put it off for other personal reasons, but the time has come for me to learn due to a shift in my priorities. Chokri is an absolute God send. I tried one driving school while in high-school and another one a few months ago and while they weren't terrible, they just weren't for me. This school, however, is very much a school I intend on, and have already begun, preaching about. He's knowledgeable, humorous, and incredibly reassuring. I need that extra reassurance and he provides it continuously. He has a warm heart and despite me being occasionally ditzy, he speaks to me like I'm his daughter instead of some idiot he picked up in a car lol. Anyone can learn, but not everybody can teach. Chokri is most definitely an amazing instructor. If you're looking for a good driving school, this is the best choice hands down. Plus all the other driving schools have you drive to the next student and have that student drive you home and it's just an annoying waste of time. Not this school. The way their schedule is set up, you drive yourself home.

Another important thing, the way he teaches you makes SENSE. And when you make mistakes, he doesnt just fix it for you. He explains the mistakes and the solutions to them to help ensure you learn from it. I can honestly write a lot more but, safe to say, I have him booked for a few weeks 😁

UPDATE: I passed my road test on my first try!! I booked a lesson right before the test and because of my luck, it was literally a thunderstorm. Chokri made me feel incredibly safe and he was reassuring the entire time. Shoutout to my dad for the parking lessons! 🤣❤️

But seriously, I have my license now but will be booking the occasional lesson before I purchase my car and for little while after just to make sure I'm as good as can be. Easily the best driving school in NJ and will recommend Chokri...
