Excellent one stop cafe for coffee, snack, dessert, or even an entire meal. On our family vacation to NYC, we stayed 1 block away from this cafe and stopped there multiple times. I realized we didn't get a picture of everything we ordered: coffee, pastries, and supper. For as small of a business as it is, they have a very large menu and everything we ordered was excellent! We ordered chicken Caesar salads and wraps one night late and they were the biggest and best we have ever had. Very fresh! I talked to the owner while we waited and said we were from the midwest and just starting our vacation. He was very nice, and provided a couple desserts on the house!
The day we left to head back home we stopped in for coffee which was excellent, and thanked the owner for the good food and service. He told the kids to each pick a dessert, again on the house. I tried tipping him out of appreciation and he wouldn't accept. The place is a diamond in the rough in downtown N.J. and is worth stopping if you are in the area! To be halfway across the country in an area you've never been to, downtown N.J., late at night, and find a nice place with friendly staff and quality service was a highlight of our trip.
He only has a couple employees so the wait is longer, so don't be in a rush when you stop. It is definitely worth it!
Thank you for your generosity, hospitality, and making our...
Read moreI think I'm done with this place, their cooking is horrible. To much food and too heavy-handed. For example, last time I was there I had the Croque Monsieur, one of my favorite sandwiches. It had POWDERED SUGAR on it! I can understand the thinking since the bread is dipped in egg batter, like French toast, but it's not French toast. Lots and lots of food, barely edible. It's too bad because it's a very cute place and in a location with not much else to eat. But all of my eating experiences there have been challenging, and each time the food has been a little worse. They do make very...
Read moreAlways would visit this place for my iced chai latte for a good pick me up if I was having a rough day at work. Emma and the other blonde woman (unfortunately never caught her name) working would always greet me with a smile and were so friendly! It really made my day! The iced chai is yummy and so are their sandwiches (I always got the grilled chicken) and don’t get me started on their cakes! All so good! I’m leaving my job/the area so unfortunately I won’t be stopping here anymore but I absolutely loved going here ! I felt so sad about it I had to give these guys a personal...
