This place is a big disappointment, its horrible and my family and I hated it. First, the service is not good. After we ordered, we waited over an hour for the food to come. They said that water is to be bought and is not served for free. Same with the bread, you get bread only if you ordered a main course. Although, if you didn't order a main course, you have to pay in order to get bread, if you want. Second, the food tasted horrible. Some of my family members, including me, have a very low spice tolernece, but in our food, 95% of it was spicy, very spicy. They also put a TON of spices in the food because they know the fish is bland and has no taste, so they try to save it by putting a lot of spices, and now our stomachs hurts. Third, the prices on the receipt are completely different than what was on the menu, meaning that they are over charging us for food that isn't even that good. Fourth, apparently you have to call them and reserve before even coming into the restaurant, and you also have to call them an hour and 30 before going if you want sangaria. Fifth, the bathroom is very disgusting, the place where you do your business is very small. Its also not clean and its very disturbing. I most definetely do not recommend this...
Read moreI used to love, love, love this place but after my last two visits. I've come to the conclusion, it's taken a turn for the WORST. I Placed my order Sea bass and brown rice. I parked in front and called to confirm it was finished. I was told yes, its ready. I walk in and guess what, nope it wasn't. I personally think she gave my order to Egyptian man in front of me. I watch pick up his fish with her bare hands👀, so needless to say i was okay with not getting that one. When I inquire about my order, I can see her using her hands again...WHERE ARE THE GLOVES? I asked how much longer but language barrier quickly became annoying, frustrating and just intolerable. I asked how much longer after another 10min. She told me to pay now, 2min. I then saw the other lady press the fish with her bare hands. It was giving my stomach a sick feeling, to watch this nasty way of handing food. I trusted my gut and walked the hell out of there Hungry. I'd rather starve, than take a chance on getting Typhoid eating there.
Very disappointing watching the decline of this place. The kitchen looks filthy, pots and pans look unwashed and the service is at an...
Read moreI'd heard about Morgan for quite some time, as it's more or less the highest rated place in the area of Jersey City I lived in. I'd never heard of Egyptian fish places being a thing, and being hungry one night I made the trek over. Nobody here really speaks much English but they are very nice. I had called in my order in advance for takeout, and it wasn't ready when I arrived. I have no clue why it took so long, but I didn't complain seeing as they wouldn't understand me and I didn't have much else to do at the time. After being in a staring contest with their fish case for 30 minutes, I got my food and headed home. When I finally got it, the fish with rice was enjoyable. They used tilapia and grilled it very well; the rice was also large and tasty, although the shrimp had an odd flavor to them and they went overkill on the seasoning. For $7, this was a huge container of food that I was able to portion into dinner and also lunch the next day. That's a tremendous value, and I think that's why the reviews are so great on here. If you want a authentic ethnic meal, this is the real deal; just make sure you have...
