Finding a good barber in JC is like finding an honest mechanic - it ain't easy. I returned to JC after spending most of my adult life in Wash, DC and I struggled to find a good barber here. One was undependable due to his addiction, another was inconsistent in cutting my hair the way I wanted it done and it was really hard to get an appointment with the last barber I was using. Given my usual barber was out of the country, I needed a cut bad and after looking at the reviews opted for Mateo at Supremacy. Not only did he take the time to LISTEN to how I wanted my cut, he shared which guards he was using for my tapered fade and even trimmed the loose hairs on my eyebrows. Additionally, he hit me up with a warm towel on my face before he trimmed my goat-tee. Now I know the guy-code about being loyal to your barber, but I think Mateo has moved to the #1 spot for me. It's easier to get an appointment, I 've gotten more compliments on the cut he gave, I get more for my buck and the shop is even within walking distance of my crib. My first time at Supremacy left a lot to be desired. I called ahead and specifically requested a more experienced barber due to a tight schedule, as I only had an hour for a taper and shape-up (including my beard). Unfortunately, the entire experience exceeded an hour, and we hadn’t even started shaping up my hairline by that point.

To save time, I opted to shave my beard entirely, but the process still dragged on. While I appreciate the extra effort, I didn’t ask for enhancements like dye or a facial cleanser, and these additions were not communicated beforehand as something that would increase the cost.

Being from Jersey City, I’ve had this haircut done at other establishments, and $50 for a taper and lineup feels excessive, especially when the extra services weren’t requested or discussed in advance. The staff are friendly, but the pricing and lack of time management were disappointing. Unfortunately, I can’t see...

Really debated leaving this review but this is one of the worst haircuts I’ve had. Disappointed as I have an important work meeting tomorrow. Today 08/05 was my second time being here. First time I was impressed with the time and effort put into the cut so decided to come back to the same barber. This time felt rushed which was fine as I was using my lunch break from work. But Asked for a fade and instead got a patchy and unblended mess. Biggest red flag was when the barber didn’t show me the back of my head with the mirror at the end but I trusted it would be similar to last time so didn’t ask to see.
