I lived in this neighborhood until about two years ago, and was here when Clo opened. I stopped going because the service was slow and a large cold brew was about $7. While visiting, I figured I'd stop in again since I was staying around the corner.
Today, I ordered a large cold brew and was surprised to hear it was just over $4. So I asked again to confirm the price, and the barista said it was correct.
I waited 10 minutes for my coffee and four people came in, were served, and left during that time. This includes one woman who ordered a large ice coffee.
When my drink was ready, they handed me a small cold brew. I told them I ordered a large, the barista checked in the back, and came out to say they had no more large cups.

Read moreI initially ordered a large cup of oat milk latte(24oz), the menu on showed the price small sized coffee(12 oz). The cashier failed to informed me any detail on the drink, before I made payment. Especially the larger cup costed twice the amount, and an extra $1.50 for the option oat milk. If I was informed earlier I would have changed my mind. Although it makes sense that a cup double the size should be charged double, I felt like it is a common practice for a restaurant to inform customers what they are paying for before confirming the payment. I had to pay more than $10 for a cup of coffee, and quite frankly it didnât taste like one thatâs worth more than $10. I had better coffee with more volume that costed less. Please at least fix the menu, and...

They take their craft seriously andâif pressed or queriedâare extremely knowledgeable about the products and methods of production. For the quality and location prices are not inordinately peak, comparable to other artisanal coffee locales, of which Journal Square is sufficiently lacking. The overall aesthetic has a kind of sleek and modern vibe. Lastly, I've probably met every employee at the 97 Newkirk location and they're all good peeps, very friendly and welcoming. Show 'em some love,...
