I have ordered from Ku Ramen a few times since they have opened. Sad to say this the first time I am very disappointed with the food. It was bad enough to perhaps make it my last time ordering here. I ordered Karage Chicken which is fried chicken nuggets with a sauce. And what they gave me verses the photo they advertised of the meal was terrible. I received burnt tiny hard nubs- of a meat that did not even resemble chicken drowned in a dark chard sauce. Not even edible. I ordered fried vegetable dumpling which were rubbery and tasteless. And I ordered a Chicken Cutle-Curry. The chicken was deep deep deep deep fried. It was to tough to even bite into. And the curry sauce they put on the side was bland. They was barley a hint of curry. It tasted like it was made with flour, a pinch of curry for color and water. I spent over $30 here and was really looking forward to my meal. And was heartbroken and disappointed, and hungry because it was not edible. I was a fan of Ku Ramen up until this experience. I was gonna bring out of town friends here for 4th of July But now I have to find some where else for them to get...
Read moreProbably poor translation on their menu but so you know the “pork bun” is actually a “dumpling”. Was expecting pork buns and got Trader Joe’s dumplings instead. Even if it’s a mistranslation on their menu this is FALSE ADVERTISING. They need to fix this.
If you Google pork bun you will NOT get images of the food we got.
Bun is made with bread, but dumplings is made with dumpling skin.
I talked to the waitress and she said it’s not dumplings. Apparently it’s different in their culture? She was gaslighting me even though that probably wasn’t intentional. She said to not order it next time. Don’t worry, there won’t be a next time.
I’ve been to multiple China towns and have eaten at legit Chinese restaurants and if the menu says “pork bun” you get a bread!!
If I wanted soup dumplings I would’ve defrosted the soup dumplings I have the freezer I bought from 99 ranch.
All the ramen broths are from an...
Read moreThe best place to get ramen in journal square! It was affordable and delicious! The ramen broth had the right level of thickness and salt. The pork belly had an intense pork flavor, nice crust, and good balance between meat and fat. The black garlic broth had a nice smoky and umami taste. For $13.75 the ramen here was better than $25-$30 bowls in downtown JC.
The robatayaki was good depending on what you got - the quail egg with bacon was a creamy, savory, and rich bite.
Milk tea can also be hit or miss also. Thai milk tea is really good, but my friend got coconut and it was watered down.
The service was great - you can tell this is a family restaurant that cares to serve the best food. The One Piece decor made dining in even more enjoyable.
Overall, this spot has very good ramen for an...
