A Heartbreaking and Unprofessional Experience at Little Explorers

I wish I didn’t have to write this review, but our experience at Little Explorers in Cypress, Texas was nothing short of disappointing and deeply upsetting.

We had scheduled a birthday party for our four-year-old daughter—a day that should have been filled with joy and celebration—but instead, it was completely derailed by the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy from both the staff and owner.

The issue began when my wife spoke to someone on the phone to adjust the party time from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM—a change they verbally agreed to. However, what they failed to mention was that they never actually updated the time in their system. As a result, when we arrived expecting to celebrate, we were stunned to find out they had already closed the facility.

To make matters worse, they only waited 30 minutes before sending their staff home—by 11:45 AM—without ever attempting to communicate with us. A simple phone call, text, or even a moment of patience would have resolved the situation. Instead, they chose to lock the doors and abandon a child’s birthday party without a second thought.

What truly added insult to injury was how we were treated when we questioned why they didn’t honor the remaining time. We still had an hour and 15 minutes left for the party, yet they refused to reopen or accommodate us in any way. Rather than showing even a shred of understanding, the owner and staff were shockingly rude and dismissive—completely unconcerned that they had just crushed a little girl’s special day.

This wasn’t just an inconvenience—it was cruel. A child’s birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and their carelessness and indifference turned what should have been a magical day into a stressful, heartbreaking ordeal.

If you’re looking for a place that values its customers, especially families with small children, I cannot recommend Little Explorers. Their lack of accountability, poor communication, and unkind attitude left us stunned. A business that caters to children should prioritize empathy, flexibility, and basic human decency—sadly, this place did not.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so upsetting that I felt I needed to share it — especially for other parents. I’m a small business owner myself and always try to support other local small businesses. That’s why I decided to book my daughter’s 4th birthday party at Little Explorers Lab after speaking with Sarah, the owner.

From the beginning, I noticed something felt off because Sarah was very insistent on receiving payment before we even finalized the booking. Still, I went ahead and paid the deposit and confirmed the party. Shortly after, I realized the original 11:00 a.m. time was too early for us, so I called and spoke with Sarah, who agreed without hesitation to move the start time to 12:00 p.m. for our two-hour party.

On the day of the event, we arrived a few minutes before noon to decorate and set up, only to find the doors completely closed and locked. I called multiple times before Sarah finally answered and told me she had “closed up” because she hadn’t heard from me — even though our party had been booked and paid for! I explained that we were outside ready to start and asked if we could at least use the remaining time we had already paid for, but she refused and showed no effort to fix the situation, no apology, and no empathy whatsoever.

She claimed the time change was not on the invoice — which was true, but only because I had trusted her as the owner when she said the change was no problem. That was my mistake, assuming she would keep her word.

This experience completely ruined my daughter’s birthday — she was heartbroken, and it was devastating for our family, especially after relatives had traveled in for the celebration. It took me months to even write this review because of how upsetting it was.

As a fellow small business owner, I understand mistakes happen — but how they are handled matters. Unfortunately, there was no accountability or compassion from this business. I would not recommend Little Explorers...

I can't say enough wonderful things about Little Explorers Lab! We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday party there, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect, thanks to the incredible team, Ms. Sarah and Annie.

Ms. Sarah was a warm and engaging presence, making sure every child felt welcome and excited. She went above and beyond to make the activities both educational and fun, keeping the kids fully immersed in the experience. Annie was equally phenomenal, with her bubbly personality and hands-on approach. She kept everything running smoothly, ensuring that both the kids and parents had a stress-free, enjoyable time.

The activities were well-organized, and it was clear that both Ms. Sarah and Annie are passionate about what they do. They made my daughter's birthday not just a party, but an experience filled with wonder, discovery, and joy.
