This japanese bookstore is simply amazing! It is actually part of a huge chain in Japan that has nanaged to open a few stores in the U.S. Like American book stores, it carries books as well as many other gift like items.
They have such a wide range of stock that is ever changing and growing. They have tons of books and manga in both English and Japanese, of course. Though they also carry so, so much more, including blind box figures, cute mini planters, fun socks, a large wall of stuffed animals, those mini house and mini interbook chef displays, those new lego-like mini block sets, anime fan merch from figures to pins and more, Japanese traditional items like chopsticks, furoshiki, incense, and lucky cats, great gift items from fun puzzles and cute housewares, etc. They also sell Gundam build sets and accessories and other gaming and movie figures like Pokémon and Godzilla. And that's still not everything! They also have a huge stationary section that has tons of pens, journals, washi tape, calligraphy supplies, needle felting sets, origami paper, and a whole Studio Ghibli section with great gifts from puzzles, books, to housewares, and stuffed animals all covered in beautiful art from your favorite Ghibli films. They even had a full size Cat Bus statue you could go in and take pictures in and live music during their grand opening week. I am still not even covering all of what they sell, but just look at how wide of a variety of amazing items that have and make a visit! You will not be disappointed.
They also special-ordered me an obscure manga from Japan without extra cost, and it'll arrive at the store within two weeks, which speaks to their level of service and helpfulness!
I find it hard not to go here once a week just to see all the new stuff and am lucky one of the only 3 or so of these stores in the U.S. happens to be near me. Seriously, if you are into Japanese culture in any way, this store is worth a trip. They've already made a die-hard...
Read moreI really like this store, as well as the plaza it's located in. I will definitely be returning. It is quite large, and set up nicely inside. There was room to walk without bumping into other patrons.
Please note the prices CAN be more on the expensive side
So please be prepared to bring a little extra cash with you when you come to shop. For instance, there was a large, super cute bunny plush stuffed animal that I wanted to purchase but the price was $250!! Yes, you read that right lol. To give you an example: The same size stuffed animals that you can get at Walmart for $40-60 during the Valentine's Day holiday... But having the price hiked up exponentially. I found a cute very small, simple zodiac necklace for $15.
Now- some people may still want to buy these items, or something similar- so please take this with a grain of salt. I just want to give more of a general idea of what pricing looks like, so that future customers will be prepared when they come to shop.. I purchased 3 items for $49 (including tax).
There are many colorful pens, pencils and fun art materials that are sold here. Notebooks, plush toys, POP characters, cards, some awesome dishware, and a MASS array of cool anime and comic books that you probably won't find anywhere else!
I am very happy this place has opened, and it is definitely worth coming to check out if you are into any anime or Japanese culture inspired fun items. And there is I believe a cafe a few shops down that looks like it might have some delicious bites (I'll be visiting them...
Read moreReview on “return” policy
Very nice and cool store with so many items ranging from stationary to books and collectibles. I took one star off though because they don’t have a good return policy. Pretty much it’s either final sale or store credit. Anything that’s wrapped in plastic (which is a lot of their items) cannot be returned once that plastic is off and any items with the possibility of being defective they also don’t take back. The policy is the traditional 30 days for exchanges but again with the contingencies I listed above. Plus they described a lot of items that may not fall into that category so just a warning for those who are like me and may want to try to look more into a book in the comfort of their home or have curious kids with them who want to get something random- just be careful what you get because it may be final sale or you may end up having some $50 store credit to a place you don’t come to often or may never again. I know a lot of stores have similar policies but I just think there should always be some way a customer can get their money back if they genuinely haven’t used the item and have simply changed their minds. Hopefully, they’ll say more to customers about their policy at checkout, have some signs listing that, and make the policy on the receipt super clear so that they don’t run into any unhappy customers...
