So, I'm torn. I took my mom here for the ultimate scalp massage, hair treatment thing. I've had a migraine for about 2 weeks and this was a suggestion to alleviate the symptoms. This was also the very first time I've had such a service so all my expectations were built on what I had watched on YouTube.
I asked for firm. I also asked twice for a deeper pressure and did not get that. It felt like I was being lotioned by my grandma. However, my mother got deeper pressure firm the entire service. She had Mimi. After my service I felt that I would skip the ultimate experience and just get the scalp treatment because my hair does feel super hydrated considering the lack of product it usually has. But after talking with my mom I think I'm just stealing Mimi lol. I did still tip my lady my min off 20% but I gave Mimi an additional amount. I do see the value in this service so I don't think it's overpriced at all. As a woman of color having services that are mindfully performed means everything to me. I am very adventurous with bathing and spa culture so finding these treats are my happy place. I'll be back, stealing Mimi š¤£š .
EDIT- So I went back. I had three migraines in a week so I just went ahead and took my braids down and tried to book an appointment. Well they were booked 6 weeks out. But they have a wait list. It's pretty flexible as they can let you know within 3 hours of a cancelation. My job is remote west coast hours so I have a little more flexibility. I got a text the day before, and i jumped on the appointment. will say I was a bit disappointed that my appointment started late and finished before the lady they took back 5 mins before me. We did get the same service. I will say my hair doesn't feel as hydrated as it did the first time. And I just found out they spray your hair with heat protection to finish which I would have 100% said no to. Again I'm left with the same on the fence feeling. My migraine is gone, which honestly is the important part....

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first visit to the Mer Aqua Head Spa and I was NOT disappointed!
I had never heard of a Head Spa before, but saw it advertised on Instagram and I knew I just had to give it a try. I talked a friend into coming along with me!
We scheduled about 4 weeks in advance for "The Ultimate" which was 90 whole minutes of top notch pampering with a focus on my scalp, hair and face. It also came with an arm, hand and shoulder massage while my face and hair were masking and ended with a back massage and hot towel.
Ashley took such good care of me. Her touch was firm, yet not aggressive, and the water temperature was perfect š I can honestly say that I haven't been this relaxed in many, many moons!
I was first directed to enter into a changing room where I was able to store my purse, phone and clothing in a secured locker where I had the key. I was given a velcroed towel wrap to put on and then a light robe over that for walking to my massage bed. Sandals were also provided.
The spa area itself was clean and well done. The dim lighting was perfect as well as the gentle spa sounds/music. Even though the other clients were only separated by light curtains, it still felt very private.
The staff was very friendly and professional and I felt appreciated.
I highly recommend this service and will be telling all of my friends about it. My skin, scalp and hair feel rejuvenated. I will...
