My 14-year-old son recently got into comic books, so we’ve been checking out different shops—most have been duds… but Mountain Empire was amazing!
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away. The associate—maybe the owner—was deep in conversation with another customer, and you could just feel the good vibes. They were both engaged, friendly, and clearly passionate.
Even though I have zero knowledge about comic books, the staff made us feel welcome. The guy took my son to the back, loaded him up with free goodies, and asked thoughtful questions to help him find a series he’d really enjoy. He was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely excited to help.

Read moresuper friendly environment! i went in place of my boyfriend for free comic book day. i actually called ahead to make sure they had the popeye comic at the top of his list before making the drive, and sure enough they did! when i walked in i was greeted and asked if i was there for free comic book day, i said yes and was handed a list of comics (with pictures!) and told exactly where to go. the process was super easy and i had a great time, even while waiting in line! there was so much to look at. even after getting the free comic i stayed around to browse. a lot of comics were front facing as well as an area to flip through comics, of course they were labeled to make it easy to know where to look! they do have some dice and bags for them, some figures and even wrist lanyards for keys and prints to buy. its definitely more comic forward but they have some other good...
