If you're into sports bars with LOTS of big-screens, this is a great place to go! However, it's not a great burger place...
Our party of 4 went there for dinner. The place was busy and because we specified a booth, it took about 10 mins to be seated. No big deal. The host was spot-on with her timing, friendly, greeted us promptly, and ensured we were good to go before leaving the table. The facility was nice and clean. Well lit and plenty of space. (Note: this was the old Texas Roadhouse location and the building was completely renovated less than 6 months before this review.)
Our waiter was good. He was attentive, and the order was delivered with everything that was asked for with no errors. Drinks were promptly refilled and overall, he took great care of us. He did neglect to keep used dishes from piling up and we had to ask to have them removed a couple of times through our meal.
The mini-pretzels appetizer was very tasty! The beer cheese was great and the 5 mini-pretzels were nice and hot with a firm exterior and soft interior. The side salad was good - good size with proper proportions of each item. The fries had good flavor and were fresh, but they were greasy and seemed under-cooked. The onion rings were BLAND!!! However, they were large-sized rings, fresh-made in-house, with generous (bland) fried coating, and the ring sauce made up for it nicely. The sauce was really THAT good! It took virtually tasteless onion rings and made them very good!
But the burgers...the burgers.......SMH......
ALL of us ordered burgers cooked to Medium. When they arrived, ALL of them came out FREAKING HOT and well-done. ALL OF THEM. No 'juice' and dry as a bone! I notified the server and he immediately called the manager over. The manager immediately offered to re-fire my burger as the others in the party were willing to eat the hockey pucks they were served. However, the manager nonchalantly tried gaslighting me with the excuse that since these are 'smash burgers', which means in-house pressed and compressed to them, they were a little 'different' - not as juicy and 'more difficult to cook at anything less than medium-well or well-done.' I asked him if they 'smashed' them while on the grill and he said no. I also asked about fat content and he advised they use 'normal meat, not super-lean'. So, from my 40+ years of grilling experience, there's no reason for a dry, burnt burger.
It should also be noted that he tried putting this on the server by asking if the server had explained that they use 'smash burgers' so it would be difficult to cook them to medium. Our server did not say anything like that when we ordered, but that's a BS excuse for a cook that doesn't know how to properly cook a burger.
When the replacement burger came out, it, too, was very hot, well-done, and on the dry side. It was a little better, but not by much. The seasoning was good, and the toppings were fresh, but the burgers were just not what was expected from a place that touts itself as a great 'burger and wings joint'. But, if you're looking for a really good burger, this is NOT the place.
Overall, it was an 'OK' casual-dining/sports-bar experience. A little loud but not ridiculous. The staff were friendly and took good care of us. The manager was a bit condescending but polite enough. I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.
I just wish SOMEONE that KNOWS HOW TO DO BURGERS would re-open that Fudd's over on State of Franklin!!!
The Tri-Cities DESPERATELY NEEDS A GREAT...
Read more“For what you are about to eat may the LORD truly not make you vomit” tweaked that one a bit from Gordon Ramsey I expected to not be served cold food. 5 arrived, seated by 5:20 drinks 5:30, server was nice and asked if we had questions about menu. The potato skins had super cold out of the fridge pork, cheese on them with spraying BBQ sauce, which I should have asked to leave off, I like to test it first and not everyone likes the same sauce, we could tell it had sat back there or something. Ordered the mac and cheese burger was told they didn’t have enough patties done up, they place them into freezer then fry it, manager came out apologized said OK just give me the fresh mac on the side. Well it arrived with a patty on the burger and another water said oh yeah we found one, well it was probably pushed way back in the freezer so now I’m envisioning the show MONK where it’s like sittin’ dirty in the freezer and now they just passed it onto me. I didn’t eat it and would have rathered the fresh. Onto the chip things they need to all eat at Cootie Browns and that’s how chips should be. I think I left a partially chipped tooth in the basket cuz I spit that sucker right outta my mouth, hubbies fries were cold, the sandwhich was drenched in Buffalo sauce, they need a crash course in how to not make your sandwhich swim across the pond before you eat it. I’m sure some folks like TV but I felt myself spinning and the amount of games on with the talking about football was crazy, play some NCIS, Yellowstone or reruns of Friends, heck I’d even take Clint Eastwood anything for goodness sakes we had 67 TVs on the same darn channel it was like at a carnival with mirrors. I could barely make eye contact with the hubby while we tried to converse and sit across in a booth to play footie under the table but even that was making me dizzy. For cracks sake don’t get the booth near the door the amount of folks waiting to get seated will stare you down, I kept beeping my truck alarm thinking the sound would draw them outside like on The Walking Dead and I could at least not feel like I was in a goldfish bowl. The amount of folks who gave five stars obviously carry a microwave in their huge purse bag cuz I swear I’m not the only one who was served fridge food. I’ve been chased down for bad reviews before, I waited a full week after this tragic experience to post in hopes I was in a bad nightmare but sadly the photos on my phone keep bringing back the episode like bad reruns of Melrose place. This place should have saved money on the remodel and sent their chefs to train at any local grandmas homestead on a farm anywhere by a Washington County Co-Op. I’d rather eat catfish out of the creek and drink whiskey before I...
Read moreLet me just start off by saying.... YUCK!!! This place is awful! I mean, it is by far the second nastiest restaurant I have eaten at in JC! The only good thing about this place was the water I had to drink, the parmesan fries, ranch, and blue cheese! I ordered a chicken sandwich that came out cold, pitiful looking, grisly, flat, and horrible tasting. I have never once in my life complained about the taste of hot sauce, but their hot sauce was nasty! Idk what happened or what they used, but it has a funky wang to it. The fried macaroni patty I ordered on the sandwich was an even bigger mistake as it was just all around gross! My son did not like his macaroni and cheese, and he tried to doctor it up with ketchup, but he ended up picking at his mozzarella sticks that came out cold even though our server kept saying he was "waiting on them to come out." Those tasted like something out of a box from Walmart in the frozen section. The marinara was nasty and had chunks in it. My husbands wings were super saucy, and the mango habanero sauce was good and spicy, but the wings were dry as a dang bone, and they were cold! My husband ordered a blue cake (can't recall the name of it) for dessert. It looked amazing, but amazing, it was not!! It was dry as the desert! It was so hard and dry that not even water could moisten the parts without the icing. It was okay in taste. It surely had potential, but the day we ordered it was just not it at all!
Our server was absolutely sweet and amazing, though. I knew he could tell we didn't like our food as I only took a few bites of my sandwich, and because he kept asking many questions that implied he knew that we weren't all that happy with our meals. We didn't complain, and we smiled and said thank you, but that was a complete waste of money without a doubt! I wish we had gone to Texas Roadhouse instead. I have had bad food before at many locations and places, but when I say that McDonald's serves up better food than this place does, you know it is that bad! It might have been one of those days, but we will surely...
