The roast beef sandwiches at J-H Cattle Co. Meat Store are a perfect showcase of why this local business has built such a strong reputation. My roast beef and cheddar on white bread was stacked with tender slices of their own farm-raised beef, balanced beautifully with the sharp creaminess of cheddar. Michelle’s roast beef and swiss on wheat had its own charm, the nutty cheese melting into the heartiness of the bread. Each bite reminded us that simple food made with real care can be extraordinary.
What makes these sandwiches stand out is the quality of the beef itself. J-H Cattle Co. raises American Wagyu Akaushi and Angus cattle in Waco, Missouri, without hormones or antibiotics. That commitment to natural practices and careful finishing translates into a depth of flavor you do not often find at a casual lunch spot. When that beef is prepared fresh and paired with good bread and cheese, you can taste the difference immediately.
For $9.99, the meal came with a sandwich, chips, and a drink, making it one of the best lunch values in Joplin. Beyond the price, the experience felt like a genuine farm-to-table moment right in the middle of town. Read moreMy son and I stopped in to get some steaks, simple enough. What we walked out with was the absolute best piece of meat that I have ever eaten in my life!!!! We got the Aukaushi Tenderloin, OMG, what an incredible experience!!!! We suvee’d the whole thing for 2 hours vacuum sealed in the original packaging at 130 degrees. Removed from packaging and seasoned with kosher salt and crushed black pepper. Seared it in butter and avocado oil until brown crust formed. Served it with sautéed onion and mushroom reduction. Sliced it into 1 1/2inch medallions. Literally used a fork to cut it. Amazing!!!! Kudos to Shelley and the team. No restaurant in the four states served anything like that, definitely worth it, I’ll never get any other steak!...
