I went to Aldi because of an advertised item in the paper. HyVee was closer and has better prices on the other items I needed. While I appreciate this Aldi’s ease of checkout- finding an employee was ridiculous. I stood in the checkout line because the cashier was the only employee in the store. While waiting to ask where the product was a team member came out pushing a stock cart. I had to chase him down. Literally running and yelling a bit too loudly for the environment- “SIR!” I eventually caught up with him 5 aisles later and had to grab his arm to get his attention. I thought maybe he had earbuds on but no- he must have been in the zone. That’s not why 2 stars. 2 stars is for the fact that my detour was for naught as apparently this ALDIs didn’t have the advertised item- not only not in stock but didn’t have it period. So now I have to call Aldo’s before I go there to ensure they carry advertised items? That and the fact that they don’t carry the same Choceur that every other ALDIs carries. They carry the least popular- I don’t get it. I need a uniform experience when I go to grocery stores and this ALDIs is not uniform. Some people like to live on the edge- I don’t. I like to go to a store and not wonder if they have items that they advertised having. I like to go to a store that carries the same as other stores of their brand. I like the 64th street aldis. This one...
Read moreI love the concept of Aldi. It's just your fair basic groceries no frills lines move quickly it's just easy. There's a lot to like. They have a lot of organic options which is important to I do have a few criticisms. I don't like the whole shopping cart debacle. I do not mind paying a quarter for a shopping cart but I don't regularly carry change so this is kind of a pain. The whole put in the quarter take your cart back get your quarterback. I guess this is just to work around the dishonest people who steal carts but it's inconveniencing everyone else. One of the things I used to buy here is Caesar salad. Lately however I have stopped because it is not actually Caesar salad but iceberg lettuce they're putting in these packets. Hard pass for me. Which is too bad because I love a pre-chopped salad. Another thing that could step up their game on is their bread selection. Most of their bread is super low budget and contains dough softeners which are terrible for you. Aldi, contrary to believe, has a lot of higher end selections at reasonable prices. That is all I'm asking for but in a bread format. This Aldi in particular is very nice, I like their selection, I like that they carry and nice liquor selection as well. Overall 5 out of five for this location three out of five for the above items I mentioned so this average is...
Read moreI’m so disappointed in Aldi today.
I always recommend people to Aldi for all of the dye-free food they sell. I don’t allow my son to have dye so we usually go there for his cereal, poptarts, fruit snacks, etc. Well, my 4 year old has been asking me for Lucky Charms lately, so we made the trip to Aldi because I know they sell their own, dye free.
My son grabbed the box off the shelf himself and was super excited to get home and have cereal for dinner. However, when we went to check out, the item wasn’t scanning properly. I asked for help, only to be told “this item isn’t in the system yet so you can’t buy it.” I asked if he could just ring up another item for $2 so I can still pay for it and take it and I was told no. So I left with a very upset child who didn’t understand why the man wouldn’t let us have his cereal.
It was on the shelf. If it’s not programmed in your system yet, that isn’t my fault or responsibility. Take it off the shelf if you’re going to deny people purchasing it.
I left with a really bitter taste in my mouth. I’m very disappointed and...
