The range officers are knowledgeable, extremely attentive and very safe, as well as very well versed in the rules. Borderline too intrusive. You cannot free fire (1 round per second) here because “what if someone who’s less skilled than you does it and starts missing and tearing up the range”
You also cannot not sup with any “switch”, FRT, binary, or legal full auto.
Because of their rule 1 round per second.
The tack system is simple and it’s kind of easy to gauge how far out your target is based on the shadow it leaves. It’s very simple, almost too simple as you often have to put the carriage forward to get it to move some times, you also have to watch it as it comes back, it would slap you in the face.
It ends very close to your face.
They also have a weird rule where you cannot free fire only load inside the tiny range lane, whether it’s mag in weapon or rounds in mag, you have to be inside the tiny range lane. With your other shooter. While they are shooting.
Also since the track system is so simple you can’t run any drills like Frontier Justice. The target just hangs and flops there.
Biggest thing is they offer the same prices at Frontier, better deals over all, but less fun out on the range.
I could go on, but even though I had a great time my last visit, it’s not the same as other ranges.
If I’m holding a 3-6” spread on an 8” circle target with a freaking Desert Eagle .50 firing “faster” than 1 rd a second at 10-15 yards.
They didn’t care about my .50AE or 500 mag. (Or 9mm’s and such)
But with the lanes so small and range full of people. I’m the crowd favorite and most dislike as I smoke out the range and blow my neighbors ears off with 5 rounds.
I don’t like it, however, it is what it is.
Not sure I will continue my membership.
Also is so tight in the lane all your shells hit the wall then hit your head shoulders knees and toes, and off course down your back.
No were else...
Read moreWow, where to start. I had a very disappointing experience at Gun Range USA in North Kansas City. The customer service was terrible — I dealt with two different employees who were unhelpful, had bad attitudes, and made the entire experience frustrating. When I explained that I would be delayed and couldn’t wait around, they still forced me to stay while my background check was processed. Threatening they would just keep my money and not finish the check that I paid for.
To make things worse, their transfer fees are extremely high compared to other places. Even more frustrating, they have a no refund policy if the federal background check doesn't come back within the Brady Law's waiting period. Despite federal law allowing release of a firearm after the required waiting time if there's no denial, they refuse to follow that and won’t give you your weapon. I have a very common name, so delays happen often — and they clearly don't care.
Overall, poor service, bad attitudes, unreasonable policies, and inflated fees. I won’t be returning and don’t recommend them. Its so disappointing that this is how they do business. Mostly because of how happy I was to have a spot close to the house to shoot ect.
Update- 6/9 You missed the point of the review, shocker! This review has nothing to do with the information or process that im already familiar with. It has to do with the rude, entitled staff the attempted to help me when I had questions regarding Range USA's policies that were not discussed up front. Nothing to do with federal law or how a background...
Read moreI had never even heard of Range USA until I saw this one being opened near us. I have a membership at another range but Range USA is much closer so I gave it a try. The range is great, though I was a little surprised that the controls aren't digital to allow setting of an exact consistent distance. It's a minor issue, I've found that using the shadow of the target on the floor works pretty well to set the target at the exact same spot out to the 15y mark, and then 25y is easy as it's just all the way back until it stops. The range is also nice in that it has two handicap accessible lanes, one on each side of the range -- important as I have a wheelchair bound friend.
The firearm prices aren't always the cheapest but they have frequent sales and are somewhat offset in that they absorb the FFL fee if you buy from them -- and often this can make the end result very competitive or even cheaper than other places.
After a few visits to check it out I ended up getting a membership, and thankfully they offer a "Defender" discount to military (active/reserve/retired), law enforcement, and first responders. Even with the Defender discount It's more expensive than the similar membership at my previous range but it's so much closer that I'll save gas, time, and/or be able to go more often and get more use out of it.
Overall a win, the staff has been great, and their electronic 4473 process has been outstanding through a couple of purchases already. I'd recommend anyone in the area to at least...
