Absolutely NOT!!!
I called the salon to tell them that Iād be running a bit behind due to my staff college scheduling classes on the day of my military ball. I was a bit late driving from Leavenworth to KC but I made it 15mins after my scheduled time.
I was very pleased and thankful that both the manager and stylist were understanding of my tardiness.
Bottom line-
Ultaās hair salon is extremely uneducated on anyone with mixed hair. I have low porosity, medium to low dense, fine strands. In other words, if I were to use that very biased hair typing scale, itād be between 3b, 3c, and 4a hence my having mixed strands.
The stylist told me she could do an Audrey Hepburn bun with my chest length hair: did this happen? nope. She tried but it was a fail. Sadly, she kept asking for help from the salon manager who was pretty clueless as well as she recommended trying to āteaseā it. Who teases naturally curly hair to place in a bun??? Breakage! Thatās hair 101! I grew tired of her using small combs to untangle my curls, using the wrong brushes to blow dry my hair, and using Mizani products on my hair (it is not the only line black and brown girls use).
In any case, I simply asked the stylist to just just straighten it and Iāll do the rest when I get to my house. Mind you, that was not part of my plan. I was late for my ball because it took my stylist three hours to figure out how to do mixed hair. A stylist who has been doing hair for over 10yrs with a manager who seemed very pompous and not caring to the needs of the stylist or me (the customer).
To be clear, the stylist was very kind and professional. My concern is with the storeās business model. If youāre going to preach diversity with all those pictures of black and brown women on your walls in the salon, at least (at a minimum), have more products and educated stylist for us.
This experience was not a great one and was a waste of my time and money.
I wonāt be back to this location and I will not recommend this location to the 1106 people (including their spouses) Iāve met at my staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay, my go-to girl is sophia/sophie (I can't remember how her name tag was spelled). I came in as a blue-collar girly who never wears makeup but wants to get into it. She was so sweet and spent over and hour walking me through products and recommendations after I specifically requested "I want to look hot on a budget" and without hesitation she walked me though everything from foundation, bronzers, blush, lip stuff ranging everywhere, eyebrows, and even walked me through serums for self care like retinol to ensure I would look my best. I'll be damned if I didnt spend $115 to look and feel my absolute best after leaving this store (which is cheap considering i got over 10 items) when I go back I want her there as my person assistant shopper and she desevers a raise for her knowledge and customer service cause I was mindless and she was so patient with me and sweet, she strayed me away from stuff I "wanted" and recommended products that were better and in my budget and I have literally never been happier after coming home and using beauty store products.. I feel absolutely gorgeous after buying her recommendations. And trust me, when I say I've already told 3 friends to come in and request her. She stated, "I've used almost every product in this store," and knows what works best for each skin condition, specifically sensitive skin. I'll post pictures of what she had me use below....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am disappointed with my experience at this location. As someone who has anxiety, I utilize the curbside option. The pick up policy seems to vary. Some ask for ID, some ask what items I bought, some ask me to look into the bag, and some look at my email. Today 10/2 I came to pick up an order I placed 10/1.. the young woman asked for my ID and to look at the confirmation email that shows which items were purchased/out of stock. I Placed an order for 6 items. 1 was out of stock so i should have had 5 items total. After viewing my email, she passed me the bag. I drove down the way to Target and realized I was missing an item. When I called and inquired about it.. I did not like the way it was implied several times that I stole the item. Check your cameras and youāll see that item was either given to another customer or never put in my bag to begin with. I SHOULD have been treated with the respect of a paying customer missing an item and NOT a thief bargaining for a second. They finally told me I could get the item they neglected to give me but only if I come inside. The situation was rectified and I did receive the item that I PAID for but I think there is a lot to be said about the way Ulta treats paying customers when they donāt look a certain way. Check your...
