West Bottoms Whiskey Co. — Local services in Kansas City

KC Whiskey has never tasted so good. Honestly it has become one of my go-to whiskeys because it is very smooth and easy to drink with a cube of ice, and it's priced so it can be used in mixed drinks without feeling like I'm committing a crime.

This tasting room is staffed by genuinely nice people who really make us feel like they want us to be there and are thankful for our business. So, a perfect representation of Kansas City. The drink menu is limited for now, and the bartender Danny who is also a part owner curated it himself. The Old Fashioned is one of the best I've found in Kansas City and I've been to every good bar here. Not every drink is going to suit your tastes though, because they were designed to accommodate some "non-whiskey drinkers". I'm told the menu is soon expanding to include some other Kansas City spirits (vodka, gin, etc).

They also did a really cool job of creating a visually cool space, with antique decorations from their neighboring antique stores in the West Bottoms. The space is pretty limited, but that makes sense considering their first mission is whiskey and this is a very young business.

Remember that this place is brand new and getting a lot of buzz which means some large groups show up and that can make an experience there not as enjoyable, but I've been there at least 5 times and it's only been an issue once and was temporary.

The West Bottoms Whiskey Co. distillery tour and tasting was a great experience for my wife and me. Ben, our guide, was easy-going, knowledgeable and engaging. The tour includes fascinating info about the city, neighborhood and building, insights about the history of whiskey production and details about their process. We've been on many distillery tours around the world and actually learned some things. He did a great job of walking us through the tasting. Their whiskeys are outstanding. Visited with a group of 20-ish as the first stop of our evening. As a non whiskey drinker I was not enthused about visiting but our server definitely took care of me by asking if we had any non whiskey drinkers at our table. She recommended the La Petit Nouveau and it was delicious!! It was by far the best drink I had the entire evening and I wish I had a couple more while we were there.
