The park has changed since I was there several years ago. The walkway over looking the highway and beside the park playing area now has a gate up. It doesn't block the view, but it doesn't do much aesthetically either. I suppose the gate was put there to stop or prevent people from jumping or accidentally falling over the wall. Either way, the view is very nice but interrupted by the gate. The view over by the Lewis and Clark statues is beautiful over looking downtown airport and the dog park. The dog park wasn't there years ago either. The dog park was added because of the residents in the apartments in that area. I also noticed that the pay-per-view binoculars have been removed. There is a statue of James something or other a tribute to a man who was a very honest man and believed in living his life that way too. You don't meet very many honest and honorable people like that anymore. Anyway, I went to this park to get my steps in. I met three homeless people there and a lady who was trying the pay-per-ride scooters that were left in the park. In some parts of the park where the graffiti is, it's not being cared for anymore. Another reason for the gate to have been put up. Also noticed that there is a gate at both ends of the park to close off the park after 5 pm. I used to come there at night to enjoy the view and to talk things over with my brother, boyfriend, friends, and family. I apparently can't do that anymore. I also enjoyed going there for lunch, looking through binoculars and reading about the Lewis and Clark expeditions. Well, the view is still beautiful, and the tributes are still there. The dog park and the play area are nice in addition to the park, but I mostly likely won't go back. That park doesn't have a friendly feel to it anymore. There is talk about adding a new park downtown 😳. If they are not taking care of the parks we already have. What is the point in adding a new park to the downtown area? We don't need a new park. We need to renovate or fix the existing parks. The money they have advocated to the new downtown park can and should be used to renovate the Swope park swimming pool area, the Gillham park pool area, and many of the parks we...

This amazing historic place is beautiful. Beautiful scenery, beautiful atmosphere, & beautiful people. Very nice and friendly people too. Go there during the day. You will always get the best from being there when you can see everything! 😁💯 i grew up around Little Italy so this park has always been my childhood park. ❤️

Side Note 📝 word of advice for the leaders of this park. Please close it up after 9PM. I was there from 4 PM yesterday on the 3rd trying to pregame for the 4th. I want to say it was at least about 10:30 when it all went downn.. Yay today is the 4th. Happy 4th!! But came night time, it got crowded with people still very nice. But then people tried to rob me from my money and car. A girl pepper sprayed me twice, and then sent one of her friends to mug me at gunpoint. Luckily there were some good women around to help me from my struggles, I was near blinded by the pepper spray and I was burning. I have never been pepper sprayed ever in my life, I work at The University of Kansas Health Systems, at least now I know how it hurts my patients. Thank you lord for this lesson learned....

Honestly, I wish I could rate this park higher as it is one of my favorite places to go. It is not what it used to be, though, and the new playground is sub par at best.

The kids cannot play on these toys by themselves, and even being a physically fit man, I still will get tired trying to spin the toys with even one kid on them let alone more than one. Parents have to be very involved with their kids playing here.

The homeless issue has only gotten worse in the evening hours, which normally I don’t mind but I do mind that the last few times I’ve gone after dark someone has been wasted and doing something sketchy — like the guy kicking the empty bottle down the street. I work in the West Bottoms and help the homeless, and even I still am in guard visiting this park at night.

The view overlooking the river and airport is just wonderful! I enjoy sitting on the bench and watching a few planes fly in or out during the day. It’s a very active airport any day...

Clean and well maintained. Unique views from the bluffs overlooking the MO river, downtown airport, and the west bottoms area. There’s actually one long park area along the ridge of the bluff, but it seems to have multiple names. Unfortunately, trees and overgrown brush block most of the view. Cutting them back to preserve and restore the view would be a major improvement — but that’s politically incorrect these days and results in attacks from environmentalists when a poor innocent tree is harmed.

My daughter and I chose to eat our lunch there ! The day we went the wind was brisk and breezy ! It is clean with a scenic view ! There are lots of friendly little squirrels ! One in particular that loved the French fries we shared ! She would come so close to get one , run back up into her tree and eat her frie ! So cute She really made our day ❤
