I was not given the option to have my truck repaired while under the warranty or purchase a used truck. The only option I was given was to purchase a new truck that I did not want. They hassled me endlessly to purchase it and to get all the things I had purchased with my previous truck that I purchased. It took two days of waiting and getting altogether after we had been at the GMC dealer in Butte Montana in 100 degree heat for three days. We had no assistance from the dealership in Butte like taking us to the store for more ice and water which we desperately needed. No assistance to move us to a RV camp area where we would have been more comfortable. Just trying to sell us three junk trucks that were not to our satisfaction. Then having to have our truck and trailer towed up to Kellogg Idaho with no help whatsoever for an issue that was a warranty problem and having to pay $4,300 dollars to have them towed there and having to rent a car to transport us (my husband, I and our two dogs and cat) to Kellogg as well. We were told they would take it off of the purchase of the new truck, which it was not. We arrived there and had to hurry to get clothes to stay in a hotel that they recommended. It was really bad that we would be compensated for on the truck as well. It was not. The bedding smelled like pee, the room was dirty. Not a place we would have chosen to stay at. We needed to get back to the sales office before 9:00am the next morning and it was already 98 degrees out and we couldn't leave the dogs and cat in the car because of the heat. We had to keep making trips out to walk them and give them water. No help from anyone at the dealer at all. When my bank would not refinance the deal, I was not given the option or another choice again such as our truck being repaired a or the purchase of a used truck. Only they found another bank that would finance us at a higher rate and longer term. Neither of which I wanted. I did not have a choice for because I was not told until signing the papers at 6:00pm that evening. We were there all day to sign papers for a truck that I did not really want in the first place but was never asked by the salesman or the finance manager if that is what we wanted to do, I'm very unhappy with the truck. I don't like it and don't want it. I want the truck I purchase initially the GMC 2500 Sierra SLT. Especially after they told me it would be 4 months to get the part to fix it. Yet they had it out as a used truck withing a week. I would have gladly waited for a week for it to be repaired. Even 4 months but they lied to me that the part was on backorder and would not be available. I know what they did was to not replace the part, but they replaced the entire transmission, so they didn't have to wait for the part and sold it with the warranty and for $20,000 more than they gave me for the truck. Double whammy on me. This is the way they do business; it sucks. I will never do business with them again and I will make sure that their name gets smeared badly everywhere. All social media, places that give ratings of business, Google, Yelp, anyplace I can find because they were that rude and disrespectful to me.
Be prepared to wait and to be ripped off. They make you wait a long time so you finally are tired and either want to walk out on the deal you thought you were going to get or you will sign anything if it will get you out of there sooner. I suggest leaving sooner rather than later. It is not worth the time spent there. It doesn't take 8 or 9 hours to sign paperwork if you are already pre-approved for a loan. The waiting areas are not that inviting to wait in. They will low ball you on your trade-in. Leave when this happens. They will add things that you don't want and charge a lot for the items, and then you will wait longer. They will not inform you of other options available to you. Or of problems that have been found on trucks that you are looking for. Go someplace else first. They will set you up in a hotel that is...
   Read moreUPDATE: When we purchased our dodge Dave Smith installed a flat bed for us. We didn't notice that they had actually cut the exhaust till the mud flap started melting. It was half melted at 3500 miles. We have called every single week since we purchased the truck trying to get this issue fixed and constantly given the run around. No one ever answers their phones and they say they will return your call and they never do. One guy sent us a new mud flap but that isn't going to fix the problem obviously... new mud flap is already melted. Why would they bother sending another mud flap if the problem isn't fixed? Very lazy. We have tried and tried to get a hold of someone that can help us get this problem fixed. We get that they are busy but this is ridiculous. We just purchased a BRAND NEW truck from them and they don't care that we have issues with it even though it is their fault. My husband spoke to someone today and they said that we have to pay for their mistake. This is appalling. I am really disappointed in the way we have been treated by Dave Smith and I was going to send people to them to buy a new pick up because we were so happy with it, but it sounds like it is more worth it for people to just buy from our local dealership. Dave Smith only cares about the initial sale and not actually taking care of their customers afterwards. Shame on them. Our back up camera also isn't working but no one at Dave Smith cares. We suggested since they were so busy that maybe we can just have the local dodge dealership fix our issues and Dave Smith cover the cost. One manager said this wouldn't be a problem. Haven't heard from her since. And now we are being told different by someone else. Sad that they will lose some business over this. My friends want to be treated right especially when spending that kind of money. Good grief!
My husband and I went to Dave Smith last week with the intension of buying a different truck with a flatbed on it. However, when we saw it and drove it we were not impressed. We were not sure what we would do cause we really needed a flat bed 1 ton dodge. The disappointment was sinking in. Allison helped us with the purchase of a brand new 2018 Dodge 3500 4x4 Cummins... and crazy that it didn't even cost that much more than the used one we were looking at. BUT we STILL really wanted a flat bed! The service dept happened to have 1 flat bed there and gave us a smokin deal since it was the only one they had. It was getting late in the day and they wanted us to stay the night but we couldn't cause we have a lot of critters at home here in Central Washington. They went above and beyond to get that flat bed on there so we could be out of there the same day! We are SO HAPPY with this truck and I don't think I'll ever buy used again. Allison worked her butt off for us and so did the service department. We really appreciate it. They also gave us gondola passes to the mountain close by while they were getting the bed installed. We appreciate the hospitality. ALSO, Dave Smith has an AMAZING restaurant with 5 star service. They are lucky to have such a wonderful lady working there she made the best food! It's pretty healthy and fresh too.
Definitely recommending our friends to Dave Smith if they need a truck. Many are already talking about it!
Now I can have peace of mind hauling my horses around all over the nation safely with a very beautiful truck!! It definitely turns heads! (;
Thank...
   Read moreI dealt with Dan, Art and Lynn on the used card team. There are numerous issues that I have had with buying my 2015 RAM 3500. It was a used truck so I didn't expect it to be perfect. I put a down payment on it 2 weeks before picking it up so they had plenty of time to go through it and fix any issues with the vehicle. Upon my first test drive I noticed that the truck pulled hard to the left. They put it in the dock and fixed the alignment while I was there. I also noticed that they center console was pretty chewed up so they agreed to pay me back $385 for that as well (never received the check a month later, only pictures of the stub). On the drive home, numerous check engine lights came on and I noticed that there was something loose under the truck and that it would pull hard to the left while braking. I got to Boise and took it to a shop to have it looked at. They found that the brakes were shot, the ABS line was just hanging down draped on the rear axle, that the air bags were just sitting on top of the axle not tightened down among other issues. There were so many issues that I called the used car manager Lynn. I let him know how disappointed that I was that he and his team put me and my son who came along in an unsafe vehicle. He got a little defensive and said that it was not unsafe but that they would take care of it. He said that his best mechanic was the one that looked at it. I got the truck back to Reno and brought it to a shop where it was worked on for 2 weeks. The brakes were replaced as well as rotors and calipers all had to be replaced, the air bag system was shot. The pump and manifold (which had a hole in it so it never worked) as well as one of the lines had to be replaced. There were numerous lights out all over the vehicle including a headlight. The computer had to be flashed (something I asked them to do before I picked it up). The tire pressure system is still not working properly and the rear window does not slide without assistance. The place I took it to could not diagnose those issues. The windshield had illegal tint on it (which I wasn’t worried about) but when I took it off, there were numerous cracks that you could not see with it on. That was $250 out of my pocket to have replaced. The total bill from the mechanic was just under 3k. Dave Smith paid that bill. I was appreciative of that, but when you buy a vehicle from a company like Dave Smith, you expect a little more than having to put my truck in the shop for the first 2 weeks and it’s still not totally right. I waited a month to write this review to see if I received the $385 check that they promised. I never got it and they have never followed up with me. Not once did I receive a call from their team, not Lynn, not Dan and not Art about how the truck was doing or if everything was alright. It was always me initiating the calls and trying to get them to do the right thing. At one point, I called to ask Art (the guy I dealt with on the purchase) if he could track down the check. He said he would ask Dan and then hung up the phone without ever asking for my number or saying goodbye. I have received emails from Dave Smith talking about retaining their #1 spot. It seems like that is what they are concerned with and not customer service. This was my 2nd truck from Dave Smith and I will not...
