This place was so wonderful 15 years ago. they literally had everything. It's a shame they have stayed stagnant and not be more focused on customer satisfaction.
I needed a book for training immediately, checked the online giant retailer first but couldn't wait 2 days for shipping. I then checked out B&N website, they had it in stock for $55 versus $40; and say it's in stock locally. Jump in car, go grab it then at checkout it rings up $89.99 and I mentioned it must be a mistake and show the clerk their website.
She proceeds to tell me in store and their website are two different prices and they dont match competitors or online pricing, even of their own website. She then informed me if I signed up for their book club at $25 annually they can price match it. After about 10 seconds of a stare off while I try to determine if shes screwing with me I ask "It says I can order online and have in store pickup, right?" Thinking maybe this is the only logical option.
The clerk proceeds to tell me I can do that, but, it could take a few hours to process and pull. I smiled and asked "You mean pull what's sitting right here in front of us?". At this point I notify her I'll wait and move to an empty register so the next victim, I mean, customer can ring up. I place my online order for instore pick up, and go into a daze.
After maybe a minute, a printer on the wall desk behind the registers spits out some paper. The clerk calls for someone over their headset. A gentlemen comes, she hands it to him without saying a word. 10 minutes passed and I decide to go to the instore Starbucks and wait on the "ready for pickup text". 90 minutes pass. I got to customer service, and ask the gentlemen I saw earlier how many online orders they have to pull and general how long is the wait and asked if I should return later. Hes very polite and soft spoken, then tells me they've online gotten one this afternoon and shows it to me to confirm its mine. I confirm, then he tells me hes looked on every aisle twice and cant find it but it says they have it in stock. I ask him, did you ask the [only] register clerk? He said no he did not but she is the one who gave him the online order. I point to the register across the store to the book still sitting on the counter in front of the clerk.
He apologized, even though it wasn't his fault in my eyes. I informed him I told the clerk I was leaving it right there since it was the only copy.
2stars due to a polite staff member, loss of 3 for nonsense policies and terrible register clerk.
I say by 2020 B&N will be the...
Read moreI took my 10-year-old son to Barnes & Noble to pick up the latest Dog Man book, and we left with a total of four books for him and two new reads for me, one by Percival Everett and another by Kennedy Ryan. It was such a refreshing experience. The moment we stepped inside, it felt nostalgic… like stepping into a space where time slows down and you’re reminded of the joy of getting lost in a good story.
The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, especially the associate who walked us through the benefits of the premium membership. We ended up signing up, and I’m glad we did. It just made the entire experience feel even more worthwhile.
Watching my son get excited about books carefully choosing which ones he wanted and flipping through pages. It reminded me why it’s important to make time for moments like this. Sure, ordering online is convenient but nothing beats actually being in the store, browsing the shelves, and discovering something new you didn’t know you needed.
We left feeling inspired to make bookstore visits a regular part of our routine. Reading is fun, and Barnes & Noble helps keep that excitement alive. This was more than just a quick trip for a book, it was a meaningful experience I’ll definitely be repeating on a monthly basis.
Thank you, Barnes & Noble for making reading feel...
Read moreNot very friendly!! I visited this location on 10-25-18, after a long day at work and after visiting a couple of other retail stores in need of a specific book for my 4th grader. After wandering the store and browsing for 10-15mins I began to notice AT LEAST 2 employees who were near the area we were in. They seemed to avoid eye contact and were "monitoring" the books or straightening out the shelves. This was at approx. 8p at night and there was maybe, only, 1 other customer in the store. Finally I begin to walk toward the front to find someone(the other 2 employees were out of my view) to help find a book, so we could be on our way, when all of a sudden the same 2 employees approached me at once saying "Can I help?". I found it strange that they were in the area where I and my children were but never bothered to greet us nor offer any assistance. However, the moment I left the area and walked toward the front they both, out of nowhere, approached me offering to assist. The 1 star is simply for the book(for my child's school participation activity) that was suggested that I eventually purchased before leaving that evening. Needless to say I will never return. In the future, I hope that the staff receives additional training on customer relations. A rule of thumb: Never judge a book...
