Tucked away behind a car wash off Barrett Parkway, Cozy Coop is a hidden gem with a smaller parking lot shared with neighboring businesses, but a short walk makes it easily accessible.
Upon entering, I was greeted by a clean and spacious interior. The young lady at the counter was not only knowledgeable but also enthusiastic in sharing her recommendations. Her excellent customer service set the tone for the rest of our visit, and I noticed the rest of the staff diligently keeping the space organized. At the front, there's a convenient table stocked with everything you might need—utensils, napkins, to-go containers, and hot sauce. The large LED menus are easy to read, and they even have a poster showcasing their specials.
We ordered the six-piece tender meal and the two-piece chicken meal, paired with their sweet tea, which hit the mark with its classic Southern taste. Our sides included crispy mac and cheese bites, a biscuit, crispy okra, and cornbread. Their Cozy Coop sauce, a blend of ketchup and mayo similar to Zax Sauce, was a tasty addition.
The two-piece chicken meal was particularly impressive. The thigh and drumstick were juicy, with a light yet crispy breading that added the perfect crunch. The okra was equally light and crispy, and the cornbread had a satisfying texture. The seasoning was spot-on, not overpowering but just enough to enhance the flavors.
The tenders were large and tender, complemented by a sweet and light BBQ sauce. Their biscuits were a highlight—hot, flaky, and buttery. The mac and cheese bites offered an interesting twist, with a crispy exterior and a soft, cheesy interior. They could easily stand alone as a snack.
Cozy Coop's atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff is friendly, and the food is delightful. It's a fun new spot worth trying, and I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreListen, I never leave reviews but I had to on this one. I drove up from College Park to come visit and I will do it again. I discovered you all on Seed Oil Scout and immediately saved you all as a fave. I knew it was going to be good. My visit was 3/7 and I ordered a tender meal, and extra tenders on the side with fries and biscuit, cornbread on the other plate! Let me tell you, amazing! Perfect seasoning, fries were crispy! Buttery biscuit and Amazing cornbread! Also the sauces are killer! Having everything cooked in Beef Tallow, and using EVOO in majority of your other items is my preference and something I wish more restaurants used! Better quality ingredients to enjoy some darn good eats! It’s worth the drive for me!
Edit: I went back for a visit on April 21, 2024 and had the chance to try more options! I attached a photo of the spread I was able to enjoy to this review and wow, the expanded options are even better than expected. The Chicken is perfectly where you want it to be, not overly seasoned and not dry. Chicken had the right type of crispiness to it and not greasy like other fast food places that use other types of oils and fats. The RIBS, oh my, the flavor and tenderness was amazing! The cornbread is always a game changer and the biscuit is so soft but yet sturdy enough to hold up....those bread options are literally perfect. The biggest surprise for me was the Collard Greens! OOOHHHH MY! Read some things on the reviews and those greens are truly special. I don't know what you all do but keep it up, looking forward to getting the other sides as well (Those red beans and rice look killer)! I also had the cookie dessert with ice cream and thought I saw heaven after my meal! I love this place and now holds a special place near and dear! Forever customer born! Anyone reading this should run...

So if you are a hopeless romantic their are a still few of us men out there. We just forgot what a healthy view of man and women love. If you made this far only thing that I would critic or ask owner to tweak the colesaw it was a little dry. Hand down I loved the biscuits because, but wife loved the cornbread. Definitely try their house sauce if was amazing. I had the tenders plate and my wife had the wing combo. We loved both of them, we also agree that the mac and cheese was the highlight of the meal, my wife also order fried okra. Lastly we had their desserts top with ice cream. Hands down amazing place to go if you value service and real southern hospitality. Now they are a little understaffed so please be patience if you happen to go and they are swapped.
