Ethan Allen — Local services in Kennesaw

I ordered a dining table and chairs in March and was told they would be ready in June. June passed with zero updates about my furniture and I did not hear anything at all until mid-July when I received a voicemail telling me the table was ready but the chairs would come In September. When the table arrived the delivery people came into my house, saw my pets, and still propped my front door wide open without telling me. Thankfully, I caught the one that wandered out. After I received the table I called to get a status on the chairs but could not get a call back.

Finally, a week after they should have arrived (in September, 6 months after I ordered them) I called and was able to speak to a helpful operations manager. He explained that there was a supply chain issue and that he couldn’t tell me when the chairs would arrive but that they would update me (I had not been receiving updates at all to this point) and offered loaner chairs. I declined the loaner chairs because I did not want my pets to potentially damage them.

After this I received 2 update emails. One to tell me the timing had improved. And one a month later to tell me they would ship mid October. Mid October came and went and I had to reach out again to ask for an update. This time I was told they had shipped and I would receive them soon.

I received the chairs on November 12. Nearly a full 8 months after I ordered them. And they all arrived with corners dinged to varying degrees. I accepted delivery because I was tired of waiting for my chairs and having a table I could not use. But I did send an email to the salesperson and operations manager who helped me. The salesperson, who could not be bothered to update me for the first six months and only reached out after I spoke to their operations manager, responded within hours to tell me:

“ After reviewing the pictures, it was determined that the finish differences on the corners fall within our quality and standards. Each chair is hand carved and will show variations depending on the artesian. Every edge will have a slight variation and is considered a normal characteristic of hand planed wood.”

There are low spots and variations, yes. As is expected. But there is a difference between low spots and spots that have obviously been dinged/damaged. I wasn’t even asking for anything special, just wanted to let them know that the furniture I waited 8 months for arrived damaged and maybe they wanted to tell their warehouse to be a bit more cautious.

Honestly, I was just going to move on with my life and not buy furniture here again. But after having so little communication for the 8 months it took to complete my order, the immediate dismissal of my concerns was too much. Furniture is pretty but good luck...

I am not one that is normally in the habit of writing reviews on businesses or people who work in businesses. However, I felt compelled to commend an employee of the Ethan Allen store in Kennesaw, Ga. Sumaya Maghariaf is a designer/salesperson that has worked with my husband and I for the past 6 months on furnishing our new home here in Kennesaw. From the moment we first walked in the door of the Ethan Allen store we were met with Sumaya’s smiling face and my husband and I were taken by her easy-going demeanor. We just told her we were browsing, and we had an idea of the type of furniture we were looking for, but we were just starting. We needed to furnish the entire house and we thought Ethan Allen would be a good place to start. We were thinking we may be purchasing furniture from several stores. Sumaya listened closely to the description of our home and we gave her our thoughts on what type of furniture we liked. Also, Sumaya showed us many options, colors, styles etc. She was not at all pushy, but rather pleasantly helpful in guiding us through the process. She helped us design and pick out the furniture and colors for our living room. Then onto the master bedroom followed by another room and another and so on. Before we knew it, with her professional and tasteful flare for design, we had picked out the furniture for our entire house! The entire process was easy, comfortable and a total pleasant experience! At that point we asked if she could come to our home to get a better feel for the dimensions and layout of the house and to be sure we selected the appropriate pieces of furniture that would fit the rooms. I also wanted to show her my artwork so she could incorporate it into the overall design. She agreed and this was extremely helpful! Sumaya is far more than a salesperson. She surprised us by not being the typical pushy type of salesperson that we have found common today! In my opinion she cares about her clients and really knows what her clients are looking for. Therefore, we purchased the furniture for our entire house from Ethan Allen! She is a rare and valuable find in today’s retail business! That is why I have decided to write this review. I truly hope that the Ethan Allen corporation realizes how valuable an employee that you have in Sumaya Maghriaf.

We cannot say enough good things about the Kennesaw, Georgia, Ethan Allen. Everyone working there is so kind and helpful and our designer MG was phenomenal.

MG was beyond patient with us in our indecision and was always willing to listen and understand our needs for our spaces. MG goes above and beyond in her design. No detail is left unturned.

MG didn’t even blink when we told her we lived out in the boonies. She showed up and measured the rooms we were working on for furniture, and then a couple days later presented us with a breathtaking design display. The display featured fabric, woods, rugs, decor items, printouts of each room including pieces she suggested based on our feedback. MG outdid herself!

The white glove delivery and the gentlemen who made the delivery were amazing as well. MG made the long trek out to the boonies again on delivery day to make sure everything was perfect. Between the 3 of them nothing was even off an inch from where it was designed to be placed. They all have very discerning eyes and left the house looking like a page straight out of a catalog.

We would highly recommend the Kennesaw, Georgia, Ethan Allen as a wonderful place for high quality furniture. Delivery was a breeze and we didn’t have long waits for most of the furniture. And even the couple side tables that are a longer wait have moved up in their delivery times so we will be receiving those earlier than we originally anticipated ! Way to go Ethan Allen, MG, and crew!
